1 TIMOTHY 6
17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.20 O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,” 21 for by professing it some have swerved from the faith. Grace be with you. – 1 Timothy 6:17-21

1 TIMOTHY 6 THE UNCERTAINTY OF RICHES & HUMAN KNOWLEDGE
A poem inspired by these verses by ILMA
The riches of this world are fleeting and temporal
There’s so much uncertainty in the things that are material
They rot, they burn or get destroyed and can be stolen as well
While the riches in heaven lasts forever and are truly eternal.
When you have been blessed with much possessions and wealth
Make sure that you are not hoarding it for yourself but share it with others
Do not be caught up with accumulating wealth for it will consume you
Use all the gifts and blessings you were given to bless others and to praise God.
Guard your minds and hearts so that it will be lined up with truth
The quest for human knowledge will go against God’s word
We are not to lean on our own understanding but on God’s promises
Let us pursue godly wisdom that is pure, peaceable, impartial and sincere.
Abiding in Christ and following his laws are better than the pursuit of knowledge
Get to know the Lord instead of relying on your very limited thinking
If you seek him first in all you do, you will receive the mind of Christ
This is true knowledge from above that will bring you life everlasting.

REFLECTION
• How did Solomon reiterate the vanity of wisdom and wealth in the book of Ecclesiastes as Paul talks about it to Timothy in these following verses?
