2 TIMOTHY 2 A GOOD SOLDIER OF CHRIST Posted on August 17, 2023 by ilmaarts August 18 ________________________________________ 2 TIMOTHY 2 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. 3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 5 An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. 6 It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. 7 Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. – 2 Timothy 2:2:1-7 ________________________________________ 2 TIMOTHY 2 A GOOD SOLDIER OF CHRIST A poem inspired by these verses by ILMA By the grace of God, you were chosen as a soldier for him Strength was given to you so you can win and overcome sin As a good soldier of Christ, you are expected to be faithful No good soldier quits easily when they face hardships Enduring adversities is a must or they won’t make it Endurance makes the soldier stronger and more resilient. Like an athlete, a good soldier prepares and trains He disciplines himself so he can follow through and sustain Like a hard-working farmer who patiently toils relentlessly A good soldier of Christ labors hard and diligently He never gives up until he watches the crops are ready to harvest The good soldier aims to fight the battles without fear and doubting. A good soldier of Christ is loyal only to the one who enlisted him He is focused only on pleasing his Lord and Master and avoids sin He locks in his heart all the wisdom that he was given by the Spirit And regularly applies such knowledge in the battles that he faces He wears the armor that God has equipped him to face the enemy He relies constantly on the Spirit so he won’t be deceived easily. ________________________________________ REFLECTION • What does a good soldier have in common with a faithful servant?
