2 TIMOTHY 2 GOD’S FIRM FOUNDATION Posted on August 20, 2023 by ilmaarts August 21 ________________________________________ 2 TIMOTHY 2 19 But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.” 20 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. – 2 Timothy 2:19-21 ________________________________________ 2 TIMOTHY 2 GOD’S FIRM FOUNDATION A poem inspired by these verses by ILMA In this world, we have no assurance because it is fleeting But with God, we have a firm foundation and it is unending God chose his children and he knows those who are his They are those who acknowledge their sin and turn away from it Even though their nature is sinful, they do not make a habit of sin They are faithful to serve the Lord and do not want to displease him. In the Lord’s house, there are all kinds of containers of different makes Some are gold and silver and others are made of wood and clay There are those that are used for daily purposes and some for distinct roles If you are faithful to stay pure, the Lord will use you in honorable ways You will be set apart as holy and valuable for the Master’s use You will be equipped to do every good work in his great plan. Aim to stay undefiled and not corrupted by the world You were created so that you will follow his word Remember that those whom he chose will be equipped They will have the ability to please God and accept their roles Because of God’s firm foundation, you will be used according to his plan Do not compromise your life, stay faithful and follow his commands. ________________________________________ REFLECTION • Explain how would you classify yourself as a believer, would you be in the gold and silver category or in the wood and clay category in God’s household?
