He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might. No, the Lord’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love.
– Psalm 147:10-11 (NLT)
HUMAN MIGHT VERSUS FEAR OF THE LORD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you boast about your own strength?
Do you know what the cross really meant?
God doesn’t care about your human might
He cares for those who follow him and do right.
He takes no pleasure in works of the flesh
He is after those who love him and invest
He delights in those who fear him and obey
He transforms those who apply what he says.
For many years of my life, I took so much pleasure in knowing that I am able to follow through a goal or a plan based on a deadline I set. I took pride in what I did because I know I was good at whatever I set my mind on. I took credit for every little thing I achieved. I was a fool then. I didn’t realize that I was actually competing with God and totally disregarding and disrespecting him. Until one day, the spirit of God revealed to me what the cross really meant. I didn’t have to prove my worth because Jesus died for my sins. God doesn’t delight in performance, he is only concerned with how much you love him and others.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for dying for me.
REFLECTION
How can you give up performing and focus on loving?

I urge you first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them, intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. -1 Timothy 2:1(NLT)
INTERCEDE ON OTHERS’ BEHALF
A poem and essay by ILMA
Is there someone you need to bring closer to Christ?
Are you willing to pray for someone who has lost insight?
Ask God to help them and intercede on their behalf
It will bring honor to the Lord and he will be glad.
Remember to pray in the spirit continually
He hears the request of the godly constantly
Remember to ask everything in Jesus’ name
It brings miracles and removes people’s shame.
I heard a teaching on intercession from Gateway church by Pastor Robert Morris. It was the best explanation I have heard so far regarding what intercession means. He said that we need to remember the word “intersection” when we do intercessions. When we intercede for someone, we are actually the intersection so that they will be led to God from the place they are.
The bible urges us to pray for all people and to intercede on their behalf. We are also asked to give thanks for them. When we intercede for others, we are literally the mediator to bring them to God. This is why Jesus Christ was the only way to the father and he wants us to do the same for others through his righteousness.
PRAYER
Lord, make me remember all those who need prayers.
REFLECTION
What can intercessory prayers bring about?
