March 6________________________________________
And I am convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love. Neither death, nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow- not even the power of hell can separate us from God’s love. – Romans 8:38 (NLT)
NOTHING CAN SEPARATE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you entertaining lies in your mind or heart?
Do you realize that Jesus was there from the very start?
He created you out of love because that is his character
Nothing can separate you from his love; not now or later.
Neither death nor life can disconnect you from his love
Neither fears nor worries will change the faithfulness of God
Not even the power of hell can stop him from nurturing you
He cannot cease to forgive you; he wants you constantly renewed.

Have you ever experienced being with a very persistent person? I just recently watched a movie based on a British athlete named “Eddie the Eagle” who joined the winter Olympics. He wasn’t a popular kid but he had this dream that he will join the Olympics. Everyone was telling him he didn’t have a chance because he wasn’t cut out for it. But with diligence and practice, he practiced and later on finally God granted him his dream.
Faithfulness is very important in relationships. It’s what keep us together. It protects us from separating from each other. God’s love is unfailing.
PRAYER
Lord, show me how to be faithful to you.
REFLECTION
Have you ever felt separated from God? What do you think blocked your relationship with him?

WHEN GOD DISCIPLINES Poem Devotional

March 5________________________________________
But if we examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way. Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world. – 1 Corinthians 11:31-32 (NLT)
WHEN GOD DISCIPLINES
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you experience pain from not getting what you want
God knows you are not ready, so he doesn’t grant
If you examine yourself, you’ll know you are being disciplined
Like a protective parent, he doesn’t want you to continue living in sin.
He is after your heart and is longing for you never to depart
When God disciplines you, it means he wants you to have a new start
He never condemns you, he only convicts and lead you to his truth
He is longing for you to be living in his Spirit so you can reap fruits.

If you are a parent, you know how important it is to discipline your children. The book of Hebrews explains why God disciplines us, He considers us sons and daughters. If we are not disciplined, then we are illegitimate. So be glad when you are being convicted by God about something because that means that he doesn’t want us to fall into the trap that Satan always plans for us. If we examine ourselves and heed to God’s discipline, our lives will be a fulfillment of his plans.
PRAYER
Thank you for caring for me Lord.
REFLECTION
What is God disciplining you with today?

March 4________________________________________
Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me. – John 20:27,29 (NLT)
BELIEVE EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T SEE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you have a hard time believing when you don’t see?
Worrying and anxiety doesn’t allow you to be free
Faith is having the confidence that what you hope for will transpire
It is believing despite not knowing how to get what you aspire.
Don’t be faithless any longer, believe and you will be blessed
Trust Jesus and you will find peace, joy and rest
It is when you don’t see that he brings you a miracle
Continue to be faithful and he will remove obstacles.

There are three different ways people learn according to Neil Fleming. Most people are a combination of visual, auditory or kinesthetic learners. About 65% of people are mainly visual learners, in that they easily pick up information with their eyes. Visual learners often associate the things they learn with the images they saw when they first learned the material. So, don’t feel bad if you are like Thomas who doubted that Jesus has resurrected. According an author of a book I read on grieving, we need a little doubt to grow our faith.
God grew my faith when I bargained with him in the past. He showed me that he knows what is best for me because my vision was limited.
PRAYER
Lord, let my heart see where my eyes cannot.
REFLECTION
Share a faith experience that grew your belief in God.

ABANDONED Poem Devotional

March 3________________________________________
Jesus called out in a loud voice. “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”
– Matthew 27:46(NLT)
ABANDONED
A poem and essay by ILMA
When times are rough and you feel abandoned
Be at peace for you are not alone when you are lonesome
Remember that Jesus cried out “Why have you forsaken me?”
He too needed strength and the courage to do God’s will.
When everyone has turned their backs on you
Run to God and he will strengthen and make you new
He is always faithful and will never allow you to be deserted
He loves you immensely and gave his Son so don’t ever feel neglected.

The consequences of abandonment and neglect in a child are detrimental to their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being. Some studies say that it creates emotionally starved children who are confused and unstable and will suffer lasting psychological effect. Child neglect and abandonment is a crisis in our society. I was emotionally abandoned by both parents because of their choice to prioritize their careers instead of their family. The aftermath of such desertion scarred me deeply and made me live in a very insecure and unstable path. I didn’t have stability to be in healthy relationships because of so much fear of being forsaken or neglected. I felt so invisible for many years. The bible tells us that even Jesus felt abandoned at the time of his death.
PRAYER
Lord, remind me to cry out to you when I feel abandoned.
REFLECTION
When was the last time you felt abandoned?

HEAVENLY THINGS Poem Devotional

cn tower 2013 and wasaga2013 240

March 2________________________________________
Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. – Colossians 3:2(NLT)
HEAVENLY THINGS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Where does your mind wander?
What kind of thoughts do you ponder?
Are they mostly focused on yourself?
Do you think of others and how to help?
Think about heavenly things that are pure
Earthly thoughts will only make you lured
The world will always make you immoral
Heavenly things will bring out the supernatural.
________________________________________
I used to entertain a lot of negative thinking. I was surrounded by pessimists and criticizers when I was growing up. It was hard to think positively because somehow, they get stolen from me. I didn’t know that I was dealing with unseen spirits until God revealed to me in Ephesians 6 that we are actually in a spiritual battle with enemies and forces that we don’t see.
One of the enemy’s tactics is to hide. He subtly tempts and entices people to do things for him. Even believers are not aware of this and so we react to the person rather than the action. Spirits and unseen forces can literally infest and infiltrate our minds and hearts. Satan would create all these scenarios to make us react, angry, and stir so much strife in our hearts. We get into his trap because we don’t know that we are dealing with spiritual things. We are urged to think of heavenly matters only.
PRAYER
Lord, let me focus only on what is pure and true.
REFLECTION
How can one overcome earthly thoughts?

PEOPLE OF LIGHT Poem Devotional

IMG_2199

March 1________________________________________
For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord, So live as people of light. For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
– Ephesians 5:8-9(NLT)
PEOPLE OF LIGHT
A poem and essay by ILMA
Once, I didn’t know God much and lived in the dark
I was hurt, unloved and didn’t have a good start
I swirled in darkness that kept blinding my sight
Sins were handed down to me, not knowing they were lies.
But Jesus shone his light on me one day when I was so confused
I had nowhere to run because others let me down and refused
Now, I choose to live as one of God’s people who live in the light
I am free from darkness and God’s will finally was fulfilled in my life.
________________________________________
It is sad to see some Christians who still live in darkness when Christ already died for our sins and released us from it. I used to live in so much chaos up to my fifties. I believed in Jesus since I was seven but didn’t really know that I was conflicted inside me. I chose most of the time to live out of God’s will which led to so many consequences that I still suffer right now. The bible tells us that we ought to choose to live in the light and get out of darkness.
PRAYER
Lord, reveal to me all dark areas of my life.
REFLECTION
Why should we literally choose to live in the light? How do we do that?
