GREAT JOY IN CHRIST
A poem and essay by ILMA
On one special silent night
There was a star that shone so bright
The shepherds follow its radiance
It was an occurrence that was magnificent
They saw the baby Jesus wrapped in cloths
Surrounded by his parents, in a feeding trough
What a sight to behold this Son of God
He brought us great joy so let’s be glad.
When you choose to commit to Jesus Christ
You will have great joy despite trials in your life
You may not have all the riches in this world
But God has given you everything in his word
Exult in the greatest gift God has given you
Shout out with joy for Jesus made you new
Marvel at his love, grace and mercy
Revel at the splendidness of his glory.

When was the last time you were overjoyed by something or someone? Was it on your wedding day, the first time you felt deep love for someone, when your child was born or was it when you first committed your life to someone? There were three occasions in my life that I had felt that rejoicing inside me. It was when I first laid eyes on my son, my wedding day and my water baptism. When you look at a star, does it remind you of Jesus’ birth?

PRAYER
Lord, keep my heart rejoicing for your presence.
REFLECTION
Why is joy one of the things the enemy wants to steal from believers?
