OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
A poem by ILMA
On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place
Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm
It filled the house where they were sitting that looked like tongues of fire
It appeared and settled on each of them and all were filled with the Holy Spirit
They began speaking in other languages as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability
At that time there were devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem
When they heard the loud noise, everyone came running and were bewildered
They were amazed to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers.
“How can this be, these are Galileans speaking our own languages
They spoke Medes, Elamites, Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus
Some uttered the languages from the province of Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia,
Others spoke languages from Egypt, Libya, Cretans, Rome and Arabs
We hear these believers speaking about the wonderful things God has done
They stood there amazed and perplexed. “What can this mean?” they asked each one.

MEMORY VERSE
Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
– Acts 2:2-4
Read: Acts 2:1-13
The day of the Pentecost marks the time that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit came about to the believers. It was miraculous since they spoke languages they never knew before. It was the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise that when he resurrects, the Holy Spirit will come and dwell in their hearts.
