PSALM 146
6 who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
who keeps faith forever;
7 who executes justice for the oppressed,
who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD sets the prisoners free;
8 the LORD opens the eyes of the blind.
The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down;
the LORD loves the righteous.
9 The LORD watches over the sojourners;
he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.
10 The LORD will reign forever,
your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the LORD! – Psalm 146:6-10

PSALM 146 A COMPASSIONATE GOD
A poem inspired by this psalm by ILMA
Praise the Lord who is our light and our salvation
He gives freedom to those who are imprisoned
He is compassionate to the widows and fatherless
He watches over those who are discouraged and in distress.
The Lord restores the sight of the blind and provides for them
He brings light to the darkness and forgives those who confesses their sins
He protects those who are oppressed and deals with the unjust
The Lord will always remain in control; in him should we put our trust.

REFLECTION
• Who were the recipients of God’s compassion as mentioned in this psalm?
• What are the promises of God that we can stand on in this psalm?
