PSALM 57 I WILL GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD
6 They set a net for my steps;
my soul was bowed down.
They dug a pit in my way,
but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah
7 My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast!
I will sing and make melody!
8 Awake, my glory!
Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn!
9 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
10 For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth! – Psalm 57:6-11

A poem inspired by this psalm by ILMA
I will forever declare my thanksgiving to the Lord
He never fails to provide for all my needs and more
Even though the enemy sets a trap for me to fall
They end up falling into their own trap; the Lord cares
The Lord God is steadfast in his love and never fails to deliver
He is there for me when I continually serve him; he is faithful
Sing out loud to give praises to the Lord God who protects his people
Be faithful to give glory to the God of our salvation, he is full of majesty
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his steadfast love endures forever
Praise and exult him for he is the beginning and the end, he is eternal
I will make melody to bring glory to God; I will always lift him up in adoration
The Lord is full of grace and mercy, he is our stronghold and foundation.

REFLECTION
• How is giving thanks a form of exaltation and praise to God?
