SAVED FROM EMPTINESS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you still living an empty life?
If you want to be free, run to Jesus Christ
He ransomed us from this emptiness and isolation
He rescued us from desolation and brought us salvation.
We can walk away from bondage into freedom
Why not believe him instead and choose his kingdom?
God paid a high price so you can live a life that is free
Seek him, you ‘ll have peace and never feel empty.

There were five decades of my life spent feeling empty. I tried to fill the desolation through achievements, performance, seeking approval and finding love in the wrong places. Because of the degree of the pain that came with this emptiness, I made many wrong choices and decisions which kept me in bondage to sin for many years. When I hit rock bottom, that’s when I finally heard God’s call to me. The Lord revealed to me the cause of such loneliness. In 1 John 4:8, I learned that God is love and those who do not live in love does not know God. I realized that I felt empty because I wasn’t seeking him and was disobedient to his will. He showed me that I have been freed from emptiness when Jesus died on the cross for me.

PRAYER
Lord, show me how to share the miracle when you freed me from emptiness.
REFLECTION
Why do you think so many people feel empty inside them?

LOVING WITHOUT SEEING
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you always have to see someone you love?
Have you ever seen the one true God?
Without seeing him, you still love him
Your faith is to believe which goes beyond seeing.
Though you do not see him now, you still trust him
Though you can’t see changes, you still believe
Christ brings victory, rejoice with a life full of joy
For the enemy’s tactics cannot rule or destroy.

When I was in high school, I had a secret crush on someone from my school. I didn’t feel worthy to be even noticed by this boy who was popular and was sought after by a lot of girls. I would secretly say things to him as I walk in the corridors of the school and a lot of times, when I do this, he would just be right in front of me. I just poured out my love (which was more infatuation) for him and allowed it to grow inside me. One day, out of the blue, he approached and asked my name.
The bible says that we can continue to love God even if we don’t see him because we are so deeply connected to him inside our hearts.
PRAYER
Lord, let me trust you even when I don’t see.
REFLECTION
What happens when you continue to trust even when you don’t see results?

EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T SEE HIM Poem Devotional

EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T SEE HIM
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind?
Do you cling to his word so you won’t stay blind?
Do you question things that happen in your life?
Do you blame him for all the trials and the strife?
Those who are faithful believers never doubt him
Even though they don’t see him, they still believe
Though they don’t see him, they still trust his word
They follow his truth so they can conquer the world.

Faith is defined as the complete trust or confidence in someone or something. It is believing without a doubt on someone or something. Even when I was surrounded with so much chaos and confusion in my childhood, I never doubted or waivered believing the Jesus will be there for me. It only changed when I was in my teens. The enemy ruled my mind and used my traumas and past painful experiences to lessen my faith in God.
The bible tells us that those who believe the Lord never doubt him. Even if their circumstances are difficult, they still cling to their master and never stop hoping and looking forward to God’s promises.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to stay faithful to you in any circumstance.
REFLECTION
How has God shown faithfulness to you despite your unfaithfulness?
