PSALM 49 NO MAN CAN RANSOM ANOTHER

PSALM 49 NO MAN CAN RANSOM ANOTHER
Hear this, all peoples!
Give ear, all inhabitants of the world,
2 both low and high,
rich and poor together!
3 My mouth shall speak wisdom;
the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.
4 I will incline my ear to a proverb;
I will solve my riddle to the music of the lyre.
5 Why should I fear in times of trouble,
when the iniquity of those who cheat me surrounds me,
6 those who trust in their wealth
and boast of the abundance of their riches?
7 Truly no man can ransom another,
or give to God the price of his life,
8 for the ransom of their life is costly
and can never suffice,
9 that he should live on forever
and never see the pit. – Psalm 49:1-9

A poem inspired by this psalm by ILMA
Listen you, all of those who serve the Lord
Pay attention all of you, both rich and poor alike
Speak only the truth in love and heed the wise sayings
Continue to follow the word of the Lord and keep on praying
There is no human who can ransom another
Only our holy and majestic God is our Redeemer
Nobody can give his life back to God, he doesn’t own it anyway
Only the Lord can ransom us back since he is our Lord and Maker
Do not pretend to be a rescuer, that is the role of our heavenly Father
Let God do only what he can, stop deluding yourself and depend on him only.

PSALM 28 -HEAR MY VOICE OF PLEAS FOR MERCY

PSALM 28 -HEAR MY VOICE OF PLEAS FOR MERCY
To you, O LORD, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if you be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. 2 Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy, when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary. 3 Do not drag me off with the wicked, with the workers of evil, who speak peace with their neighbors while evil is in their hearts.4 Give to them according to their work and according to the evil of their deeds; give to them according to the work of their hands; render them their due reward. 5 Because they do not regard the works of the LORD or the work of his hands, he will tear them down and build them up no more. 6 Blessed be the LORD! For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. 8 The LORD is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed.9 Oh, save your people and bless your heritage! Be their shepherd and carry them forever.
– Psalm 28:1-9

A PLEA FOR FORGIVENESS AND DELIVERANCE by ILMA
My Lord, you are my Rock, I plead you to hear me
Please do not be silent to my request for mercy
Do not let me perish without granting me forgiveness
Do not allow me to end like those who love wickedness
I have been faithful to you and I know that you are a just God
You deal with anyone who rejects your laws and commands
I look forward to the promise that you’ll grant me strength
Help me never to be derailed or be overcome by sin.
Blessed be the Lord! He has heard my plea for mercy
Lord, save your people and bless them generously
How will I overcome anything without your guidance?
Grant me forgiveness so I can experience your freedom.
You are my rock and you bring me firmness and stability
Help me never to turn my back on you; grant me humility
Bless your people and give them refuge in the midst of trials
Grant them the reward that they deserve for being so faithful.

CONDUCT FOR SERVANTS ILMA’S VLOG

CONDUCT FOR SERVANTS
All who are under the yoke as slaves are to regard their own masters as worthy of all honor so that the name of God and our doctrine will not be spoken against. 2 Those who have believers as their masters must not be disrespectful to them because they are brothers or sisters, but must serve them all the more, because those who partake of the benefit are believers and beloved. Teach and preach these principles.
– 1 Timothy 6:1-2:

In this letter, Paul addresses the importance of how masters and slaves in the community of believers must conduct themselves. In verse 1, he tells all those who are yoked as slaves are to respect and honor and serve their master well. Paul gives them the reason why this is a must for all Christian servants. If they do this, they will be honoring God as well and the doctrines they have taught will not be challenged or compromised. Can you imagine teaching something and then do the opposite of what you just taught? It will be hypocrisy to preach something that they cannot follow in their own lives.
In verse 2, he tells the slaves how it is more important that they give a double respect and honor to their masters if they are believers themselves. Since they are both serving the Lord Jesus Christ, it is only right to serve them all the more. In the letter to the Colossians, which was written earlier than this letter to Timothy, Paul commands the slaves to obey their masters as they would obey the Lord himself. In Colossians 3:23, it says that whatever you do, do your work heartily as you would do it unto the Lord. In verse 24, of this letter, Paul tells them that the reward that they will receive is from the Lord Jesus Christ himself.
In our world today, we don’t have servants and masters but we have employers and employees. So many of us, employees, do not treat our employers with the same respect that we would to someone we are in relationship with. Paul couldn’t emphasize more the importance of doing everything you do as you would unto the Lord. Instead of employees trying to sneak in personal stuff at work, shouldn’t they honor and follow their bosses because whatever one does to someone, they are doing it to the Lord as well? Sadly, dishonesty and selfish ambitions plague our workplaces now. If you were a master or a boss, it will be a novelty to find honest and truthful workers.

HOW HYPOCRISY COMPROMISES TRUTH ILMA’S VLOG

December 13

HOW HYPOCRISY COMPROMISES TRUTH
11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For prior to the coming of some men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and separate himself, fearing those from the circumcision. 13 The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all, “If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews? -Galatians 2:11-14
________________________________________
In this letter to the Galatians, Paul mentions how he confronted Peter and didn’t keep quiet about how Peter does not act like a true Christian. In Acts 11:1-18, Peter himself was told to welcome Gentiles into Christianity without the precondition of becoming Jews. In verse 12, we witness Peter being afraid to eat with the Gentiles because he cared so much about what the Jews would say about associating with the uncircumcised. Though Peter was previously in agreement with welcoming Gentiles into the church without bringing them under the Law of Moses, when Peter came to Antioch at Paul’s home church, it was another story. He refused to associate with Gentile Christians once certain Jewish believers from Jerusalem came. Knowing their background, Peter knew they would be offended at his fellowship with Gentiles who had not come under the Law of Moses. In their eyes, these uncircumcised Gentiles were not really Christians at all. Therefore, to please them and to avoid a conflict, Peter treated these Gentile Christians as if they were not Christians at all. What a shame! Don’t we all do this as well, fearful of what those people with reputation would think of us if we do not fit into their belief system and traditions? We please humans more than God.
This clearly shows how Paul takes this matter seriously. He had publicly confronted Peter over the issue in verse 14. This was also serious because it involved the issue of eating together. It is easy to criticize Peter; but every person knows what it means to do something that you know is wrong. Everyone knows what it feels like to go against what you know very well is right. Everyone knows what it feels like when social pressure pushes you towards compromise in some way. Salvation and the filling of the Holy Spirit did not made Peter perfect; the old Peter was still there, just seen less often.

ACCEPTABLE LIFE TO GOD Poem Devotional

ACCEPTABLE LIFE TO GOD
A poem by ILMA
Give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you
Let them be a living and holy sacrifice the kind he will find acceptable
This is truly the way to worship him and don’t copy the world’s behavior
Let God transform you into a new person by the renewing of your mind.
When your mind is renewed, you’ll know what is good, pleasing and perfect
Don’t think you are better than you really are; let’s honestly assess ourselves
Measure yourselves by the faith God has given you and not by other standards
Humble yourselves and do your best not to criticize but to encourage instead.
Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function
This is the same with Christ’s body; we are many parts of one body
God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well
No need to feel inadequate and compare yourselves with others.
If God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith has
If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give kindly
If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously
And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

MEMORY VERSE
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. – Romans 12:1
Read: Romans 12:1-8
When someone commits himself to Christ, one becomes part of Jesus’ body. Whether we like it or not, we cannot continue to live the old life we had before we became born again. Each one of us are given a certain function in the body of Christ. If we want to live a life pleasing to God, we need to have our minds renewed and live holy lives.

FUTURE GLORY Poem Devotional

FUTURE GLORY
A poem by ILMA
What we suffer now is incomparable to the glory He’ll reveal to us
For all creation is eagerly waiting to know who his children really are
Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse
But with eager hope, creation looks forward when we join him.
We believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit
We long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering
We eagerly hope when God will give us our full rights as adopted children
We were given this hope when we were saved and believed in Jesus.
The Holy Spirit helps us in our weaknesses and tells us what to pray for
He shows us to pray with groanings that cannot be expressed in words
And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is say
For the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s ways.
God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love him
God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like Christ
And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself
And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.

MEMORY VERSE
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. – Romans 8:28
Read: Romans 8:18-30
When we become Christians, we have hope that the promise of God for a future glory is going to happen. Unlike unbelievers, we can see that God causes everything, even the bad things to work for God’s glory. How loving our heavenly Father is, he gave us his son so that we can have right standing with him where Jesus is the oldest and all believers have the same right as him.

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. -Galatians 5:16(NLT)
ANTIDOTE TO CRAVINGS
A poem and essay by ILMA
It is human to have cravings
It is divine to be led by the Spirit
Let God’s Spirit guide your life
It is the antidote to all your desires.
Believe that Jesus died to grant you victory
You have the power to overcome the enemy
Have a connection with God and you will hear his voice
Stay faithful to Jesus, it benefits you and never comes void.

Some people are addicted to chocolates. I love fruits, and I can crave for them almost anytime. Though they are good for my body, I should also watch out that I take it in moderation or I will have to suffer the consequence of not being able to control my longings. One of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control. A fruit is only harvested if the seed of that fruit was sowed. Self-control doesn’t happen in an instant. It is a result of cooperating with God’s will. We can’t discipline ourselves on our own because only the Holy Spirit can grant the grace to allow you to harvest his fruits. The bible tells us that the antidote to cravings is listening and being aware of what the Holy Spirit is guiding you to do. We can stifle him when we disobey and rebel.

So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you. – Deuteronomy 31:6(NLT)
DON’T PANIC
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you encounter situations that are challenging
Don’t panic, instead, keep on asking God and praying
Fear not, for the Lord knows your need before you ask
If you are in trouble, he is there, so hold on fast.
Be strong and courageous! He won’t abandon you
He is there even if you don’t see, stay true
Don’t give in to panic for it opens door to sin
Be still and know that he is there to let you win.

Seven years ago, I was diagnosed with (PTSD) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Prior to that, I was told I had asthma and emphysema. My trauma doctor told me that those illnesses were actually not real, instead, he linked it to panic attacks. I had no idea that many years prior to that, I would be rushed to emergency but they couldn’t find out what was really wrong with me. It would come and go and was very hard to deal with when I get triggered.
The bible tells us not to panic whatever the situation is because God is in control and he will never fail or abandon us. He knows everything we are going through.
