ONLY THE LORD IS WORTHY Poem Devotional

November 9________________________________________
“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.” – Revelations 4:11(NLT)
ONLY THE LORD IS WORTHY
A poem and essay by ILMA
There is no other god in the world who is worthy of praise
Only the Lord Jesus Christ deserves it from the human race
No one else can be present everywhere at the same time
He sees all things that happens in all people’s lives.
You are worthy of all glory and honor and power
You are the authority who makes Satan cower
Praise the Lord for he radiates mercy and faithfulness
Give him all the laud for he is God’s righteousness.

If there is someone who deserves all our attention, it will be our Lord Jesus Christ. Sadly, many people have not given him that full priority and attention. Most of us get wrapped up in glorifying our little successes and abilities. We get consumed by this world’s dictates and live it according to our limited human minds. We chase dreams that sometimes do not include God’s will. Then we wonder why we never reach that goal. God created all things that exist because he is pleased with making people in his own image. Do be maximize that gift that he gave us? Do we give him praise and do we live our lives to give him glory?

PRAYER
Lord, forgive me when I fail to praise and give you glory.

PUT YOUR HOPE IN THE WORD Poem Devotional

October 13________________________________________
I cry out for help and put my hope in your words. Let me be revived by following your regulations. -Psalm 119:145 & 149(NLT)
PUT YOUR HOPE IN THE WORD
A poem and essay by ILMA
I thank God that when I cry out for help, His word is there
He hears me and responds even before I ask for help
How amazing that He is way ahead of all situations
He already knows and provides the solutions.
I put my hope in God’s word because they are truth
Lord, grant me obedience to all your loving rules
Without your word, we will be lost and confused
Guide me constantly and never allow me to refuse.

What makes Christianity different from other religions? We have a God who is alive. He is the only God who came in human form and was risen after he died. Another distinct difference is how God inspired forty different writers of the bible spread in many periods of years. Yet, if you read it, it flows like there is only one writer. That is magnificent and amazing. Our Lord can create anything and use anyone or everything according to His plan. Another distinct difference from other religions is that He lives in our heart. He watches and knows every little detail of what is going on in our hearts, mind, body and spirit. When you put your hope in his word, he will revive you.

INCOMPARABLE poem devotional

October 12________________________________________
Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. – Philippians 3:8(NLT)
INCOMPARABLE
A poem and essay by ILMA
If only people will discover Jesus’ value
They will surely obey and live his truth
The desire to know Christ is priceless
It is incomparable with all the world’s riches.
Gather spiritual treasures instead of worldly things
Seeking God first is the only key to overcome sin
You’ll be transformed and reap fruits in your life
All things become incomparable to knowing Christ. ¬¬
________________________________________
So many people have been captured by the world system. We are surrounded by lies that trick us to focus our lives on the material things of this world. We get so busy with so many things that we put God last in our list of things to do (if it is at all included in our list). Romans 12:2 tells us not to conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. In Matthew 31:33, we are instructed to seek God’s kingdom first and his righteousness and all these things will be given to us.
The world has commercialized the value of knowing Christ and replaced it with seeking to gratify the desires of the flesh. We became idolaters of the “self.” Paul reminds us that nothing is comparable to the infinite value of knowing Christ as our Lord and Savior.

PRAYER
Lord, let me never remove my focus on you.

How is seeking and knowing Christ incomparable to anything and everything in this world?

PARTAKE OF CHRIST’S BODY Poem Devotional

September 7________________________________________
But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. How strange a body would be if it had only one part! Yes, there are many parts, but only one body- 1 Corinthians 12:18-20(NLT)
PARTAKE OF CHRIST’S BODY
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you believe and commit to Christ
It is best that you follow Jesus in your whole life
You are expected to be part of his body
To grow, you must be involved with somebody
He created his church so we can encourage one another
He didn’t create man to be alone and live a life that’s isolated
Being part of the body of Christ is a sign of obedience and respect
When you wilfully defy being part of his body, you are actually a rebel.
________________________________________
Does the bible literally say that you must be a member of a church? Some Christians have created their own beliefs regarding being part of the body of Christ. Some may have had bad experiences in the past when they were once members of it. That is a lame excuse not to obey what Christ required us. In gotquestions.org, they expounded on what it means to be the bride of Christ. The imagery and symbolism of marriage is applied to Christ and the body of believers, the church. When we don’t partake in his church, we are acting as an unfaithful wife.________________________________________
PRAYER
Lord, help me to stay faithful to you by being part of your body.
REFLECTION
How can you convince Christians who doesn’t partake of Christ’s body to do so?

ALL WILL DIE Poem Devotional

July 3
________________________________________
No one can live forever. All will die. No one can escape the power of the grave.
-Psalm 89:48(NLT)
ALL WILL DIE
A poem and essay by ILMA
There is a time for everything
A time to be born and to die
No one can live forever
No one can escape.
All of us is going to die
But if you believe Christ
You will live and rise again
Just as he overcame the grave.
________________________________________
There are some people who do not like to think about dying or even discuss it. Even as a young child, I never had a problem dealing with deaths and I am always the bravest to look at the coffins when some family members died. I didn’t see death as a scary thing. always thought that it was just a part of life and that those who die are going somewhere much better. I was never afraid of dying and this was what made me live life to the fullest always.
The bible tells us that no one can live forever and everyone will die. No one can escape the power of the grave. The bible also says in John 11:25-26 that if you believe in Jesus, you will live even when you die and everyone who lives and believes in him, will never die. These verses talk about the promise of eternal life which goes beyond physical death.

PRAYER
Lord, help us to look at death as a part of life.

THE GOD WHO RESCUES AND PROTECTS Poem Devotional

April 26________________________________________
They will not conquer you, for I am with you to protect and rescue you. I, the Lord, have spoken. -Jeremiah 15:20(NLT)
THE GOD WHO RESCUES AND PROTECTS
A poem and essay by ILMA
We live in a world of chaos, violence and confusion
Do we rely on human strength or run to God for protection?
When you have faith like King David’s, you are covered by Christ
Though suffering and pain may be present, his light still shines.
Believe that your Lord and Savior’s is in the business of restoration
No matter what happens, he will never leave or abandon
He is our stronghold, he will never be defeated by the devil
Run to your only Lord and master, so you can overcome evil.
________________________________________
Have you ever feared something or someone that kept you running away from that person or situation? You can only run so much or avoid what you fear. One day, you will eventually cave in to stop it and confront that person or circumstance or object that you fear. I kept running away from the fear of rejection and abandonment and from being taken cared of. These fears kept me from having good healthy relationships. It made me unconsciously sabotage a relationship to self-protect.
The bible tells us that we need not fear for we have a God who is in the business of rescue, protection and restoration. Run to him.

PRAYER
Lord, let me always run to you instead of running away from you.

SEARCH MY HEART LORD Poem Devotional

April 1________________________________________
O Lord, you know every heart. – Acts 1:24(NLT)
SEARCH MY HEART LORD
A poem and essay by ILMA
O Lord, you know everyone’s heart
Will you search mine and set it apart?
Let me only have righteous intentions
Convict me so I won’t give in to temptations.
Grant me a hunger to always seek your truth
Change my mind and heart so I can be renewed
Don’t allow me to be corrupted by this world
Let me always be guided by your holy word.
________________________________________
How often would you let someone see you inside and out, without masks? Many people are afraid to get closer to others because they are scared that they will be exposed and others will see their weaknesses, faults and flaws. I am thankful that I am not afraid to be seen by others regardless of how much I fall short of God’s glory. The bible tells us that God allows us to experience these “thorns in the flesh” because he is honing us and refining us to be strong we can do what he has planned for us.
King David was known for a person who was after God’s heart. He was obsessed with getting closer to the Lord and he constantly leaned on him for everything. Despite his frailties and sins, the Lord chose him to be the root where the lineage of Jesus originated. Ask God to search your heart.

Lord, let me never be afraid to be convicted by your Spirit if I have done wrong.

CARING FOR GOD’S TEACHERS Poem Devotional

December 17
________________________________________
You are being faithful to God when you care for the traveling teachers who pass through, even though they are strangers to you. Please continue providing for such teachers in a manner that pleases God. – 3 John 1:5, 6(NLT)
CARING FOR GOD’S TEACHERS
A poem and essay by ILMA
To all who want to stay faithful to the Lord
Take care of all teachers of God’s word
Those who are given the gift of teaching
They are obedient and they are sacrificing.
Believers are called to care for these teachers
They spread God’s word and teach the gospel
It pleases God if you provide for their needs
It brings him praise when you openly care and give.
________________________________________
Matthew 28:19-20 instructs us to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that God has commanded. All believers of God are called to teach his word and his commands. Not all believers follow this commission. Those who take this instruction from God seriously to all the ends of the earth (Mark 16:15), God will never forsake them. Romans 12:6-7 mentions some of the spiritual gifts we can receive from the Holy Spirit. It mentions the teacher who ought to teach well. In 3 John 1:5,6, the faithful ones need to care for these teachers even though we don’t personally know them.

RICH IN CHRIST Poem Devotional

October 14
________________________________________
I know about your suffering and your poverty – but you are rich! -Revelations 2:9(NLT)
RICH IN CHRIST
A poem and essay by ILMA
The moment you believed in Jesus Christ
You are covered by his love and light
Christ is the King of all kings
You are rich if you believe in him.
You may be suffering from poverty
Stay strong and live for him faithfully
You are the son or daughter of God
You are always unconditionally loved.
________________________________________
Romans 8:17 says “And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.” Those who belong to Christ is definitely going to receive his legacy since we are heirs of him. Everything belongs to Christ, so that means that we are rich. Sometimes it is very difficult to think of our true identity in Jesus because the enemy bombard us with so much lies about our real character. We are his prized possession. We are very valuable to him, his masterpiece.
This verse in Revelation was a message to the church in Smyrna but it is also relevant to us Christians who walk the path to Jesus. We can be afraid of suffering, but if we remain faithful, we will receive the crown of life. The Lord wants us to assert our riches in him.

PRAYER
Lord, never let me lose sight of my true riches in you.

ON FELLOWSHIP AND WORSHIP Poem Devotional

October 12
________________________________________
They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper and shared their meals with great joy and generosity. – Acts 2: 46(NLT)
ON FELLOWSHIP AND WORSHIP
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you go gather to worship with your spiritual family?
Do you share meals with others to remind you of Christ’s suffering?
Believers are all called to build relationships in the body
Do you try to encourage and connect with others regularly?
When two or more gather in God’s name, He is in their midst
Sharing your joy to God’s people is like giving him thanks
Encourage and share your burdens and testimony
It builds up the body of Jesus Christ greatly.
________________________________________
One of the gauge of an authentic Christian life is a healthy relationship with other believers. Hebrews 10:24-25 suggests that we must think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works and tells us not to neglect meeting with one another to encourage each other. We cannot call ourselves true believers if all we do is go to church on Sunday and listen to the sermon and not even talk to anyone in the church. Can you imagine being in a family and no one acknowledges the presence of each other? Many homes are broken because there are no relationships built. Let’s worship together with other Christians, share meals and grow in faith.
________________________________________
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for giving us a family of believers.
