Idols are worthless; they are ridiculous lies! On the day of reckoning, they will all be destroyed. But the God of Israel is no idol! He is the creator of everything that exists.
-Jeremiah 10:15-16 (NLT)
THE CREATOR OF ALL
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you believe in the one who is creator of all?
All other idols are powerless and dull
Only God made the heavens and earth
He is the one who knows you even before birth.
He loves us much and made us in his image
He is the only one who can free us from bondage
On the day of reckoning, all idols will be destroyed
Only in him will we know the truth and have joy.

Many unbelievers believe in gods that are man-made from either wood, gold or other kinds of stone. There is not much power in these things made my man. The one true God is someone who we can’t visually see, but someone who works in us, through us and for us. His spirit lives in those who believe in him. He directs the path of those who belong in his flock.
In Jeremiah 10, God used his own prophet to warn every one of the impending danger of idolatry. He exposes the powerlessness of these idols which were carved to serve their own purposes. Unlike them, God is omniscient and omnipotent and thinks about each member of his fold.
PRAYER
Lord, teach me to be loyal to you.
REFLECTION
Relate a time when you had an idol in your life .

THE REWARD OF GENEROSITY Poem Devotional

rbg 032

March 29
She has done what she could and has anointed my body for burial ahead of time. I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed.” – Mark 14:8-9 (NLT)
THE REWARD OF GENEROSITY
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you treat the Lord with reverence and majesty?
Are you faithful in spending time with Jesus regularly?
The woman who anointed Christ’s feet was remembered
She became an example of bigheartedness and was awarded.
Generosity is an act of veneration and honoring the Lord
When we bring what belongs to him, we give him applaud
Everything we have comes from our gracious heavenly father
Let’s praise him by giving back what he gave us and be kind to others.
Are you a giving person? The act of giving is the whole theme of a Christian’s life. Abraham became the father of all believers because of his faith and generosity. He was tested by God to give his son, Isaac as an offering for him and he never doubted what God requested. He passed the test of faith and kindness.
The bible tells us the story of the woman who anointed Jesus’ feet with very expensive perfume. Jesus rewarded her reverence by ensuring that she was remembered throughout the world where the Good News was preached. Jesus gave back to her the respect that she gave to him.
PRAYER
Lord, stir my heart to generously give always.
REFLECTION
How has God paid back your generosity to him?

ATTRIBUTES OF LOVE Poem Devotional

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. – 1 Corinthians 13:7(NLT)
ATTRIBUTES OF LOVE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Love is a commitment you undertake with someone
It doesn’t give up easily when romance is gone
Even in desperate moments of frustration
Love never loses faith in all situations.
Love is always hopeful even when things are bleak
It endures through trials; it doesn’t focus on the weak
It continues to trust in every circumstance
Believing, giving and forgiving are “love’s” stance.
The world has romanticized the meaning of love. It has corrupted its true meaning by highlighting more on what one can receive from someone rather than what one can give to the loved one. The world sees love as a business transaction. They only give if they are guaranteed something back in return. When they don’t gain anything, they sever their relationship with the one who can’t live up to their criteria.
In God’s economy, love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance. It is like God because God is love. He is faithful and never gives up on us. He’s always there even if we turn from Him. He waits for us patiently to come back and reunite with him. This is the true meaning of love.
PRAYER
Lord, teach me to love like you do.
REFLECTION
What worldly view of love do you need to give up?
