GET UP AND GO Poem Devotional

“Young man” he said. I tell you. “Get up!” – Luke 7:14(NLT)
GET UP AND GO
A poem and essay by ILMA
When we are asleep, we accomplish less
Standing up and start moving keep us afresh
Get up and go is a command to spring to life
It protects us from believing the devil’s lies.
When we limit ourselves from our potentials
We are asleep, let’s focus on what’s essential
Take all weaknesses to Jesus and arise
It will free you from bondage and you will thrive.

There are many verses in the bible that we hear God or Jesus commanding someone to get up or arise. In Leviticus 19:32, God commands Moses to rise up and revere God. In Joshua 7:10, the Lord asks Joshua to rise up because he has fallen on his face. Isaiah 52:2 was a message to Jerusalem to rise up and shake themselves out from the dust. The prophet Micah in chapter 2 verse 10 was summoned to arise and go because of the destruction of uncleanliness. In 2 Samuel 19:7, he was commanded to go out and speak kindly to his servant.
Almost all the miraculous healing of Jesus included this command to “Get up” or “Arise.” Why did the bible use this words often, especially to those significant persons that God gave the anointing? The act of getting up is an active stance while sleeping and not doing something is likened to being dead.

WORD GIVES LIFE Poem Devotional

April 7________________________________________
He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. -James 1:18(NLT)
WORD GIVES LIFE
A poem and essay by ILMA
When God created the world
He breathed on it and spoke the word
The word brings life when it is uttered
It shines God’s light so bright and alive.
When you seek his true word, you give birth
Things multiply and continue to get big
The truth also brings about joy and freedom
It brings us closer and closer to God’s kingdom.

Before I became born again, I had no idea how powerful the word of God was. I didn’t know that it could set me free. I didn’t even realize that it will bring healing to me in all aspects of my life. I underwent so much traumas and it manifested in my body, mind and spirit. I was sick physically, emotionally and mentally. When I became born again and recommitted my life to Jesus, the first instruction I got was to feed on his word. I didn’t understand it at first. How can it heal me bodily, mentally and emotionally? I thought that it was only something spiritual that it deals with. When I finally obeyed God’s word, it literally exposed the lies that I believed for many years. I became aware of all the sins and the darkness I lived in. After seeking the truth, I was released from darkness.

COMPASSIONATE GOD Poem Devotional

I will restore them because of my compassion. It will be as though I had never rejected them, for I am the Lord their God, who will hear their cries. – Zechariah10:6 (NLT)
COMPASSIONATE GOD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Whatever you are going through right now
Run to Jesus, give him praise and bow down
He will restore you for he is a God of compassion
He is there to provide relief and a resolution.
The Lord created us all to be like him
When we cry out to him, he hears and redeems
Stay devoted and true to someone who treasures you
He understands you totally, he knows things concerning you.

Racham is the Hebrew for “compassion.” Strong’s exhaustive concordance defines it as
tender love, great, tender mercy, pity, womb. It is interesting how the definition includes pity. I personally think that without a sense of pity, one cannot be compassionate. The word womb also gives us a picture of a baby in a woman’s womb where she can literally experience what the baby feels because it’s inside of her. One cannot give compassion if one cannot put himself or herself in the same shoe as the person suffering. It is as if she or she is actually experiencing that person’s predicament.
The bible tells us that God is full of compassion and he hears our cries and understand everything that we are going through.

PRAYER
Lord, grant me a heart that is full of compassion.
REFLECTION
What hinders us from being compassionate to others who are going through something?

For God says, “I will break the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly.” – Psalm 75:10 (NLT)
HOW TO INCREASE STRENGTH
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you struggling with some weaknesses?
Don’t fret, for God will manifest his faithfulness
If you want your strength to increase
Stay in his love, righteousness and peace.
He promises provision to those who love him
Stay faithful and abide in him to avoid sin
He will break those who perpetuate evil
To his people, he lets them defeat the devil.

Have you ever been so sick that you had no strength to even lift your hands or go to the bathroom by yourself? There were three months of my life in my early thirties that I was bogged down by Hepatitis A. It was probably caused by ingesting with contaminated food from street food. In the Philippines, it is a common practice to buy foods from street vendors. It was the most helpless experience I have ever had. My son was about 8 years old that time and I had a cousin who was vacationing with us who was 12 years old. I felt so weak and tired and couldn’t even get on my feet or sit up in bed. Just like we need physical strength and good health, we need spiritual strength, which can only be given to those who are godly.
PRAYER
Lord, please remind me to run to you when I need strength.
REFLECTION
What does the bible mean when it says we are strong when we are weak?

NOWHERE TO HIDE Poem Devotional

pinery camping 2014 and others 598

March 25
Stop acting so proud and haughty. Don’t speak with such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows what you have done. He will judge your actions.
-1 Samuel 2:3(NLT)
NOWHERE TO HIDE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you really think that God can’t see what you do?
There is no reason to hide or find a place to run to
Stop acting so proud and haughty
Give up arrogance and being snooty
The Lord is a God who knows everything
There is nowhere to hide from a supreme being
He knows what you’ve done and what you’re feeling
He is all seeing, all knowing and all loving
Run back to his arms instead of rebelling.
Have you ever tried to hide a secret that you have done in the past that you were not proud of? Do you have any idea how exhausting it is to keep on hiding and running especially from the people who love and trust you? It is stressful to keep pretending to clean up a mess you have done. Sooner or later, someone is going to discover whatever you have been hiding. There is no secret that God doesn’t know.
The bible warns us from acting proud and being haughty. He doesn’t want us to speak arrogantly. God sees and knows what we are about to do or what we have done. He will judge our actions.
PRAYER
Lord, convict me of pride.
REFLECTION
What must a Christian do to avoid pride?
