TIMELY ADVICE
A poem and essay by ILMA
There is only one place you can get timely advice
The bible guides you in everything so you can be wise
Timely advice is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket
They are precious so cherish them and lock it.
When you need help in making choices and decisions
Timely advice will give you accurate solutions
Give the right counsel at the right time to others
You bring blessings and favors to your sisters and brothers.

There are many times when others give us advice that sometimes do not really work for us. Just like a doctor’s advice is important to a patient, we need wise advice from others too in order to live a life of joy and peace. I have consulted many counselors in my life because I know I need others t o help me be well balanced. But not all advisers or counselors give the appropriate solutions for our challenges. Sometimes, others perspectives and value system are so different from ours, that it sometimes does more damage than help. There is only one place and one person who can give us the right advice in everything, the bible and God. Timely advice is compared to golden apples in a silver basket in the bible. It is priceless.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to always run to you for advice rather than the world.
REFLECTION
When was the last time you gave timely advise to others? What was the result?

The godly offer good counsel; they teach right from wrong. They have made God’s law their own, so they will never slip from his path. -Psalm 37:30-31(NLT)
THOSE WHO OFFER GOOD COUNSEL
A poem and essay by ILMA
If you are in trouble and want guidance
Be with those who can give you good assistance
The godly offer good counsel and direction
They know how to navigate through tribulations.
They have decided to live out God’s laws
That is why they keep on track and don’t get lost
Run to those who offer righteous help and advice
They will lead you to Jesus and keep you from lies.

Have you asked someone for counsel and got in trouble later on? I have been going to counselors in some stages of my life because I wanted to thrive in life. There is a misnomer that those who go to counselors are crazy or have mental issues. I think that people who believe this have defeatist attitude and are cowardly. There are many benefits to seeking counsel but you should also ensure that the person you are asking for guidance are those who are not directly opposite your beliefs, or they can mess you up big. I once had a counselor who I saw for about a year, weekly and didn’t realize that he made me more confused because he was indoctrinating me another belief system. Go with the godly for counsel.
PRAYER
Lord, lead me only to believers who live your truth for counsel.
REFLECTION
Why is it important to choose who you seek direction from?

FILL YOUR LIVES WITH CHRIST Poem Devotional

Let the message about Christ in all its richness fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. –Colossians 3:16 (NLT)
FILL YOUR LIVES WITH CHRIST
A poem and essay by ILMA
What are you busy with in your life?
Are you referring to God’s insights?
Let the message about Christ fill your lives
Teach and counsel each other so you can thrive.
Fill your mind and heart with the word of God
You will find that life is easier and not that hard
Sing psalms and hymns with hearts that are thankful
Let the Spirit touch your life and make it powerful.
What is a successful life for you? As a Christian, our success should not be the same as the way the world view success. It shouldn’t be about power, fame, wealth and beauty. A successful Christian is someone who is deeply intimate with the Lord, knows the character and will of God and is living what God wants for him or her.
The bible tells us to fill our lives with the message about Christ because it is rich. We must counsel and teach with all the wisdom he gives. We must be thankful and show such gratitude by singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs and give God all the credit for making our lives victorious.
PRAYER
Lord, let me be intimate with you daily.
REFLECTION
Why do we need to fill our lives with Christ’s message?

TEACH AND COUNSEL EACH OTHER Poem Devotional

port elgin camping 2012 490-001

November 6                                                                       The Power of God’s Word
Let the message about Christ in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.– Colossians 3:16 (NLT)
TEACH AND COUNSEL EACH OTHER
A poem and essay by ILMA
As you embrace God’s will and truth
He expects you to teach and bear fruit
The word of God is given so you can share and mature
It has power to transform lives and help you and others endure.
Teach and counsel each other with all God’s wisdom
He will use you so he can further his kingdom
Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to the Lord
It is one way of thanking him and giving him applaud.
I feel loved and special when someone gives me a gift, especially if it was something well thought of. It is not really the gift that matters but the act of thoughtfulness. I want to give someone in return for the gift I received. Somehow, I feel that I have shared what I got if I make someone feel special too.
The bible tells us that when we receive the Good News of Christ, we are expected to teach it to others. We are also expected to give thanks and praise to God through psalms, spiritual songs and hymns.
PRAYER
Lord, give me courage to teach and counsel.
