The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.
– Psalm 19:1(NLT)
GOD’S ASTOUNDING CANVAS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Look up in the skies and be amazed
The sun reflects various colors in a glaze
Clouds in varying shapes parade in a platoon
The firmaments complement their different hues.
The heavens display God’s astounding canvas
Look up! Behold clouds that come and pass
Proclaim God’s magnificence in his creation
Your spirit will be refreshed amidst life’s condition.

I am a very visual person, so I always take delight in watching the skies. Cumulus nimbus clouds in an array of different shades and hues of white, gray and blues on a regular sunny day or on a sunrise or sunset with additional colors are my favorites. I used to chase sunsets and made had an exhibit that showcased my photos and paintings during the turn of the century in 2000. Many people were wowed by my photographs that captured amazing colors that I ran to take in a matter of ten-minute intervals. The best colors to capture in photos is when the sun is eaten up by the horizon which is just a matter of ten minutes. I waited and positioned myself at the best view, usually by the bay and get high after witnessing the horizon swallowing it. The heavens proclaim God’s glory through his craftsmanship displayed in the skies.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for the skies, which is your canvas.
REFLECTION
When was the last time you have watched the sky?

HOLDS ALL CREATION TOGETHER Poem Devotional

He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
-Colossians 1:17 (NLT)
HOLDS ALL CREATION TOGETHER
A poem and essay by ILMA
God has a system to make things work together
He created man so we can love one another
He placed the sky above the land and the seas
He made all kinds of animals, plants and trees.
He existed before anything else was in the universe
He made man so we can relate with him and converse
Each portion of his creation has a purpose in his plan
Do you know your destiny or do you fight and run?

Have you looked at nature lately? Are you not astounded at how God has made beautiful trees, landscapes, seascapes, sunsets, cloud formation, the snow, the beautiful flowers and all living creatures? Scientists have obsessed with reasoning and getting answers to all the things we cannot fathom. But the bible says that we cannot understand God’s mind because we are limited and he is not. Why can’t we just thank the Lord for everything that he has given us? Why do we have to understand? It is our fallen nature that wants to compete with God’s understanding. Sometimes, we just have to accept and be thankful.
The bible says that God existed before anything else. He created all things and holds all creation together. We need to believe that he knew what he was doing when he created us.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for all the beautiful things you created.
REFLECTION
What part of God’s creation are you thankful for today?

THINGS UNSEEN Poem Devotional

July 26________________________________________
He made things we can see and the things we can’t see – such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers and authorities in the unseen world. –Colossians 1:16 (NLT)
THINGS UNSEEN
A poem and essay by ILMA
Look at the things all around you
God made them all things old and new
He made things all that we can see
He also created all things unseen.
Even if we cannot see some things
It doesn’t mean that they are not existing
Thrones, authorities, kingdoms and rulers
God made them all to unveil all his might and power.

2 Corinthians 4:18 says that we shouldn’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. Also, in Ephesians 6, it is mentioned that we are not battling with flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. I think that God made both seen and unseen things so he can display his creativity, power, might and that he is the alpha and the omega.
He gave Adam and Eve a paradise but they broke their faithfulness to God. Lucifer was the most beautiful angel until his pride and greed brought him to where he is now.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for all your creation, both seen and unseen.
REFLECTION
Why do you think God created the unseen things in this world?

CREATED THROUGH AND FOR HIM Poem Devotional

March 31
Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he hold all creation together. –Colossians 1:16-17 (NLT)
CREATED THROUGH AND FOR HIM
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you believe that God created everything?
He made the entire universe, creatures and human beings
He existed before anything else and designed us in his likeness
He holds together all creation in his loving righteousness.
He gave us his commandments so we can sow and reap
He wants our minds and hearts to constantly leap
We were created through him and for him
We must remember to listen, obey and be redeemed.
Do you wonder how and why you came into being? So many people live their lives without knowing their purpose in life. They live for themselves and cater to all that is pleasurable to them. They do not care about anyone else but themselves. Then, they wonder why they feel empty and isolated.
The bible says that everything was created through God and for him. He came before anything else existed and he holds all creation together. This means that our purpose is for him and not for ourselves. This means that without God, we will live difficult lives and lack peace and joy. This means that if we live our lives devoid of him, we will not fulfill all that we were created for.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for all your creation.
REFLECTION
Why is it important to know God’s purpose for our lives?
