Fear not; you will no longer live in shame. Don’t be afraid; there is no more disgrace for you – Isaiah 54:4(NLT)
NO MORE SHAME
A poem and essay by ILMA
When Jesus died on the cross for you
He erased your shame and made you new
Don’t be afraid, there is no more disgrace
Only Jesus Christ can save the human race.
You need not live a disgraced life
He sacrificed so you can live in his light
He treasures you very much, remember that
There is no more need to fear or doubt.

According to Baker’s Evangelical Dictionary, “shame” is a consequence of sin. Feelings of guilt and shame are subjective acknowledgments of an objective spiritual reality. Though related to guilt, shame emphasizes sin’s effect on self-identity. Sinful human beings are traumatized before a holy God, exposed for failure to live up to God’s glorious moral purpose. The first response of Adam and Eve to their sinful condition was to hide from God, and consequently from one another. Living a shame-based life will get you nowhere.
One of the promises of God to Jerusalem is to restore them to their former glory. He will rescue them from their shame and renew them into the new people that God planned for them to have. Just like the Israelites, God also promises those who believe in him that he will cleanse them of their shame and convert beauty from ashes.

DISGRACE COMES TO DECEIVERS Poem Devotional
January 8________________________________________
No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. – Psalm 25:3 (NLT)
DISGRACE COMES TO DECEIVERS
A poem and essay by ILMA
When someone trusts in the Lord, they will receive grace
To those who try to deceive others, they will be disgraced
Shame will result from a habit to trick your sisters and brothers
Guilt will be a consequence of doing evil to others.
Live in righteousness and integrity so you won’t feel shame
Apply God’s truth in your life and stop putting blame
If you continue to discredit God for all that He is
You will be judged by him and will not experience bliss.

Shame is defined as a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior. We oftentimes feel shame when we have done something that we know is not right. We also experience shame when we believe a lie that is told to us and twist God’s truth. Shame doesn’t come from God. It is the enemy that is the origin of shame. In Genesis, we are given an illustration of the shame that Adam and Eve felt after disobeying God and allowing themselves to be tempted by the devil. The bible says that we will be free from shame or disgrace if we trust in the Lord.

PRAYER
Lord, let me never be tempted to do anything that is not right.
REFLECTION
Why do you think some people think that shame is a form of punishment by God?
