Anything is possible if a person believes. -Mark 9:23NLT)
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
A poem and essay by ILMA
If you believe that you are a true child of God
Anything is possible to those who bring him laud
If you ask the Lord Jesus in his mighty name
You will get answers and receive his grace.
If you have faith even just like a mustard seed
Even the most hardened heart will give in and you’ll win
To those who are doubtful, hopeless and have no faith
They will never move mountains or change their fate.

Faith is easy to find to those who live in third world countries. They have no one else to run to but the Lord. They learn to live day by day and watch how God provides. It is amazing to find those living in poverty can even smile in the midst of such suffering. Their faces light up when even very little comfort is added in their usual difficult lives. They are so grateful. Those who live in first world countries and have everything they need sometimes find it hard to be appreciative of little blessings they receive.
The bible says that anything is possible to those who believe. This is why Abraham became the father of all nations. At the age of almost 100, they bore a child as God promised. Because of his faith, he became father of all nations.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to increase my faith daily.
REFLECTION
How much faith do you have? How has God grown your belief?

NOT BY WORKS BUT BY FAITH Poem Devotional

When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. But people are counted as righteous not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners. – Romans 4:4-5(NLT)
NOT BY WORKS BUT BY FAITH
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you working your way to be saved?
Do you believe in God and all he says?
When people work, their wages are not gifts
They won’t be saved until they believe him.
Your salvation lies on how much faith you have
It is not by works but how you deeply love
God makes you righteous when you make him first
He loves those who abide in him and search.
________________________________________
I’ve spent many years of my Christian life working at my salvation. Nobody told me that I couldn’t have it that way but I also didn’t read the bible then because if I did, I would never have done it. The enemy wants us all to perform and compete with God. He tricks us into thinking that having a holy and ritualistic religious attitude will make use righteous.
The bible tells us that when we work, we earn from toiling, but that is not the same with salvation. Jesus Christ’s death on the cross already paid for our salvation. All we need to do is to believe in him and follow what he commands so we can be righteous.
PRAYER
Lord, let me never perform good deeds to earn my salvation.
REFLECTION
Why is it important to remember that faith is essential in our salvation?

FAITH BRINGS ENCOURAGEMENT

Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment. – Matt 9:22(NLT)
FAITH BRINGS ENCOURAGEMENT
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you believe in the one and only Christ
You will find contentment and bliss in this life
Faith heals depression and hopelessness
It brings positive perspective and faithfulness.
Faith can move mountains and make things possible
It is the key to making life victorious and bearable
Faith brings encouragement and hope to others
It can lead to miracles that seemed highly impossible.

Faith was a gift given to me since I was a little child. I wouldn’t have been here standing if not for my belief in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He gave me this gift so that I can withstand all the pain brought about by traumatic experiences and wrong choices and decisions. I remember my students and friends who when asked about me, would always mention that I am a woman of faith. It was faith that made it possible for me to raise my child alone. It was faith that brought me hope to see beyond what I am going through.
The bible tells us the story of the woman who had so much faith that it healed her of her ailment. To those who have this gift, miracles are not far to happen.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for the gift of faith.
REFLECTION
What was the most recent miracle you received as a result of your faith?

INCOMPLETE FAITH Poem Devotional

You say you have faith for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless? -James 2:19(NLT)
INCOMPLETE FAITH
A poem and essay by ILMA
When a believer declares his faith
It is the start to change his fate
Once you commit to the Lord as your savior
There will be transformations in your behavior.
When you continue with your old and sinful ways
Faith is incomplete when you are refuting what you say
If you only speak it without good deeds, it becomes useless
If you never renew your heart and mind, it is pointless.
________________________________________
Many Christians have incomplete faith. They think that because they have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, it makes their faith complete. There are many promises given to us in the bible but there are also many prerequisites that allow us to reap the benefits that God has given us. Sadly, a lot of shallow believers who have not really lived the life Jesus want for them have led others to leave the Christian faith.
The bible tells us that accepting Jesus is just the first step to build our faith. It is incomplete if we never do anything that he says in the bible to love one another as we love him. Ignoring others’ show incomplete faith.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to always remember to live what I believe.
REFLECTION
How can you manifest faith in your life?

FOLLOWED WITHOUT A DOUBT

It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. -Hebrews 11:8(NLT)
FOLLOWED WITHOUT A DOUBT
A poem and essay by ILMA
Have you ever been fearful of changes in your life?
If you follow Jesus, you will be guided by his light
It was by faith that Abraham became father of all nations
He followed without a doubt all of God’s instructions.
Are you willing to obey whatever you are called to do?
He will equip you with wisdom and strength to follow through
To obey the Lord brings you an overflow of inheritance
To have victory, you need to give up all forms of resistance.
________________________________________
Rebellion and stubbornness ran in my family of origin. It strongly manifested for many decades of my life. My life was chaotic when I lived in lawlessness, but as soon as I obeyed God’s will in my late twenties, many things changed. I had an overflow of blessings. When I reverted back to self-serving motives, once again, my life became very hard. So, I finally succumbed to his will then I experienced deliverance from many strongholds.
The bible says that Abraham obeyed God when he was instructed to leave him to another land. He followed even without knowing where God was leading him. He just obeyed.

PRAYER
Lord, help me follow you always.
REFLECTION
What was the consequence of your disobedience to God’s will?

LET LOVE RULE poem devotional

LET LOVE RULE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Whenever you are not able to get your way, let love rule
When things are unclear and hazy, let love rule
When someone abuses or neglect you, let love rule
When you lose someone and feel sad, let love rule
Whenever you see injustice and oppression, let love rule
When someone offends you and brings you down, let love rule
When someone you love is difficult and disrespectful, let love rule
When you are ostracized or marginalized, let love rule.
________________________________________
Love is the most used and abused word in the English language. People use it to mean a strong liking to something or someone. In weddings, the famous Corinthians 13 chapter is widely used. Why do you think God puts so much emphasis on love than anything else? The bible says that God is love in 1 John 4:8. Genesis mentions that man is made in God’s image. Therefore, we could surmise that we are also made of love. When we do not do things out of love, we defy what our true character is. Whenever we don’t love, we suffer and experience pain. That is why God commanded us to love him first, then others as we love ourselves.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to operate in love.
REFLECTION
When should we exercise love?

THOSE WHO TRUST THE LORD Poem Devotional

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like

THOSE WHO TRUST THE LORD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength
They will follow the straight path and will not bend
They will soar high on wings like eagles
They won’t be defeated by life’s struggles.
Those who trust in the Lord will run and not grow weary
They will overcome all the tactics and tricks of the enemy
They will walk and not faint when there are troubles
They depend on God completely to get out of the rubbles.

Trust is a crucial element in relationships. It is through trust that we learn to be intimate and grow our love for each other. Without trust, there will be deceit, dishonesty, confusion, fear and all kinds of evil.
I had major trust issues in the past. I learned to look after my well being because no one was there to give it to me. It ruined most of my relationships because I was always suspicious and wanted to bust people of their intentions to me. Before they can hurt me, I would run away to protect myself.
The bible says that those who trust in the Lord will have new strength. They will soar and not grow weary.
PRAYER
Lord, teach me to completely trust you.
REFLECTION
How can you build up your trust in God?

EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T SEE HIM Poem Devotional

juanita's unedited 047

December 26________________________________________
You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. – 1 Peter 1:8 (NLT)
EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T SEE HIM
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind?
Do you cling to his word so you won’t stay blind?
Do you question things that happen in your life?
Do you blame him for all the trials and the strife?
Those who are faithful believers never doubt him
Even though they don’t see him, they still believe
Though they don’t see him, they still trust his word
They follow his truth so they can conquer the world.
________________________________________
Faith is defined as the complete trust or confidence in someone or something. It is believing without a doubt on someone or something. Even when I was surrounded with so much chaos and confusion in my childhood, I never doubted or waivered believing the Jesus will be there for me. It only changed when I was in my teens. The enemy ruled my mind and used my traumas and past painful experiences to lessen my faith in God.
The bible tells us that those who believe the Lord never doubt him. Even if their circumstances are difficult, they still cling to their master and never stop hoping and looking forward to God’s promises.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to stay faithful to you in any circumstance.
REFLECTION
How has God shown faithfulness to you despite your unfaithfulness?

THE ONLY WORK GOD WANTS Poem Devotional

This is the only work God wants from you. Believe in the one he has sent. – John 6:29(NLT)
THE ONLY WORK GOD WANTS
A poem and essay by ILMA
What things do you normally do for God?
Do you face life’s challenges to rise above?
Do you perform so others would consider you good?
Do you have peace and joy or do you brood?
The only work God wants from you is to believe
He has sent his son so you’ll be free and receive
He has your best interest at heart so no need to perform
He wants you to fully trust him so you can be transformed.
________________________________________
There are many believers who try to accomplish and do so many things to earn their salvation. It is not wrong to want to do good things, but it shouldn’t be to perform or earn a reward. God has given us his Son to die on the cross so that we would all be saved and enjoy the promises he has given us. I wasted so many years of my life trying to be approved by others and God. I was so concerned with what others thought of me or if I pass their standards. I thank God that he has delivered me from this approval addiction and performance based life. The bible says that the only work God wants from us to do is to believe in Jesus Christ.
PRAYER
Lord, help me continually believe even if I don’t see results.
REFLECTION
How deep is your trust in Jesus?
