BREATH THAT BRINGS FAITH ALIVE

Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works. – James 2:26(NLT)
BREATH THAT BRINGS FAITH ALIVE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you believe in God like Abraham did?
He was God’s friend when he believed
Abraham was ready to do anything for the Lord
He was willing to give his son to bring God laud.
Faith alone will not totally glorify God
It will fire it up but does not show true love
Good works will be the breath that brings faith alive
It is when we put faith in action that brings light and life.
We come to Christ through faith but he has commanded us to love one another and it is best shown in acts of kindness. The book of James boldly challenges believers to show their faith through works. He says that faith without good deeds is dead. He poses questions for practical application of our faith in James 2:15-16. Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Goodbye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”- but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to show acts of kindness to others.
REFLECTION
Why do we need to do good works?

HOW TO GROW FAITH Poem Devotional

November 5                                                                               The Power of God’s Word
Let your roots grow down into him and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. – Colossians 2:7NLT)
HOW TO GROW FAITH
A poem and essay by ILMA
One cannot please God without faith
It is by believing that we are saved
As you accept Christ, continue to follow his ways
A relationship with him protects you from being swayed.
Let your roots grow down by focusing on his truth
Seeking and obeying his word lead to the Spirit’s fruit
Your faith will grow strong and you will overflow with thankfulness
You will find hope amidst this world’s trials and challenges.
Jeremiah 17:8 talks about the trees planted along the riverbank with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green and they never stop producing fruit. If we focus and get rooted in the truth of God’s word, we will have a deeply rooted foundation and we will not be tossed easily by the wind and forces around us. In Colossians 2:7, Paul emphasizes the importance of building our lives on Jesus. He is the cornerstone of a strong faith. Without him, we will be confused, chaotic and lost.
PRAYER
Lord, help me grow my faith in you.
REFLECTION
How can you protect yourself from sin and hopelessness?

CHRIST IS GOD Poem Devotional

October 17                                                                              The Power of God’s Word
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God, He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation. – Colossians 1:15 (NLT)
CHRIST IS GOD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you believe that God is in Christ?
He existed even before God first created light
He is supreme over all creation
Are you giving him all the adulation?
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God
Seek the Son and you will give the Father laud
Believe that Jesus is Lord and Savior
Give him all the veneration and ardor.
There are many people who question that Christ is God. Sadly, even some Christians doubt the very essence of Jesus. Some believe that He was a separate entity from God.
The bible tells us clearly that Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation. Man cannot fathom how a supreme being could assume the physical body of a man and live amongst them. Many unbelievers and some believers alike have doubts regarding the infiniteness of Christ. The limited minds of people cannot understand the true identity of Christ.
When we seek Christ, we also seek God. When we follow his ways, we are glorifying the Father as well. When we get intimate with Christ, God reveals Himself to us.
PRAYER
Lord, help me believe.
REFLECTION
Why is it hard for others to believe that Christ is God?

BELIEVING THE MESSAGE Poem Devotional

Aug 29                                                                   The Power of God’s Word
Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ.– Galatians 3:2(NLT)
BELIEVING THE MESSAGE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you believe the good news about Christ?
Are you receiving the message that gives hope and light?
The only way you’ll receive Christ’s spirit is by faith
It is not by obeying laws that you will satiate.
No amount of good works will buy your salvation
The cross of Christ has already paid your redemption
Grow your faith by prioritizing Christ in your life
Free yourself from legalism so you can have God’s insight.
Have you heard the good news? Are you excited to know that Christ paid your debt of sin on the cross and you are free indeed? I used to live my life under the law by legalistically following the rules to the letter. I was blinded by these laws that prevented me from discerning what Christ had already done for me when he died on the cross. I did everything I can to gain my salvation, until God revealed to me in the bible that I didn’t have to. All I had to do was believe. Paul reminds the Galatians to focus on growing their faith instead of strictly adhering to the laws of Moses.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you that you saved me.
REFLECTION
How can you avoid legalism?

FAITH BRINGS RIGHTEOUSNESS Poem Devotional

When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. But people are counted as righteous not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners. –Romans 4:4-5 (NLT)
FAITH BRINGS RIGHTEOUSNESS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Wages are what we earn when we work for someone
Righteousness is what we receive when God gave his Son
When we choose to believe, we partake in his promises
It helps us to follow the road to uprightness.
Work on strengthening your faith
It will definitely change your fate
Believe only in the Lord
Give him praise and applaud.
There are many Christians who think that they have to work hard to earn their salvation. They work hard at doing good works to be saved. God loves us so much that even if we don’t deserve it, he still sent his one and only son to free us from the debt of sin.
The bible tells us that we are counted righteous, not because of what work we did, but because of our faith. God gave us the gift of salvation through his son’s death. He does not expect us to work for it for it will defeat the purpose of the cross. He gave us mercy and grace, all we need to do is receive it.
PRAYER
Lord, show me how to live by your grace.
REFLECTION
How much faith in God do you have?
