TRUE HOME Poem Devotional

Lord, through all the generations, you have been my home. – Psalm 90:1(NLT)
TRUE HOME
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you get lost in the corruption of this world?
Do you consult God’s truth by meditating on his word?
Life can sometimes become chaotic and confusing at times
We can be consumed with many different things in our lives.
The Lord is always with us through many generations
He is our home, let’s run to him as we face temptations
When we go through many challenges, trials and sufferings
Let us go to our true home, the one true God Almighty.

Have you ever travelled for a number of days, weeks, months that you became so homesick? When you are in transit to many places, you pine for the comfort of your own home and wish that your journey ends where you are comfortable and familiar with. Other places or people can sometimes become alienating, especially if you are a “home person.”
The bible tells us that the Lord has always been with us through many generations. He never leaves or forsakes us despite our feelings that we are abandoned. But we can get muddled and lost in this very cruel and confusing world. The prodigal son’s story shows us how he left his father and asked for his inheritance, just to squander it later. He realized later that his Father’s home is still the best.

UNCHANGEABLE GOD

I am the Lord and I do not change. – Malachi 3:6 (NLT)
UNCHANGEABLE GOD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Have you been let down by someone’s indecision?
Are you tossed and turn by some situations?
Have you been heartbroken by someone’s unreliability?
Are there broken promises resulting from instability?
The Lord, your God never changes
You can depend on him to face all challenges
He is always faithful and merciful to his children
His unchanging love and character, he has freely given.

Have you ever been with someone who is so unstable that your life became compromised? I once lived with someone who constantly changed his mind and can never come up to a decision. He is always seeking to satisfy himself and expects everyone around him to succumb to gratify himself. You’ll never know what he is thinking or feeling. He can be nice one moment and flip into a monster the next second. I walked on eggshells living with this person. I started to doubt myself and became more insecure and unstable as a result of being around him. I felt unloved, belittled and neglected. I felt non-existent because everything was about him and he never cared for anyone else except to get what he wants from those around him.
The bible describes God as someone who is unchangeable. He is constantly loving, merciful and faithful. He is the epitome of love and stability.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you that I can rely on you at all times for you never change.
REFLECTION
How has God’s faithfulness shaped your life as a Christian?

GOD WILL NEVER FAIL YOU Poem Devotional

December 29________________________________________
So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you. For he will never fail you. -1 Peter 4:19(NLT)
GOD WILL NEVER FAIL YOU
A poem and essay by ILMA
How much pain and suffering are you going through?
Do you cling to God and are you faithful to his truth?
If you suffer in a manner that pleases God
You are actually honoring him and giving him laud
Trust your life to the God who created you
He will never fail and will always see you through
Keep on doing what is right and follow his lead
He will ensure that you will be free and have victory.

There is no human that is foolproof. We always make mistakes and we have that fallen nature that is bent to cater to our own selfish desires. This is the reason why we sometimes fail to meet someone else’s needs because most of the time, we prioritize our own instead of others’. It is automatic for most humans to complain when things do not go the way they expected it to. Then, we blame someone or if there’s no one else to take it, we blame God.
The bible says that if you are suffering, you must never feel defeated because God will never fail you. He always has our best interest at heart.

PRAYER
Lord, thank you for being faithful to me.
REFLECTION
Why is it hard for humans to wholly trust in God?

A FAITHFUL GOD! Poem Devotional

August 22________________________________________
The Lord says, “I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help. I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me. I said, ‘Here I am! To a nation that did not call on my name.” –Isaiah 65:1 (NLT)
A FAITHFUL GOD!
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you hear the Lord calling your name each day?
Do you ignore him and continue going your own way?
When was the last time you ask God’s help?
Do you seek him for wisdom or rely on yourself?
The Lord is faithful to respond to your requests
Do you humble yourself to God or do you inquest?
The Lord is waiting for you to call on his name
Why do you keep making God wait in vain?
________________________________________
Have you ever been pursued by someone? If it is a person that you totally like, wouldn’t you be so happy to know that he or she is after you? On the other hand, if it is someone you are not interested in, you probably wouldn’t like the idea of him or her following you around. It would probably seem like stalking to you.
When you became a born again Christian, didn’t you vow to love the Lord your God? Why is it that a lot of believers are not even in love with God? The book of Isaiah clearly illustrate how God waits on us faithfully.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for your patience with me.
REFLECTION
How have you repaid God’s faithfulness?
