TEACHING, FELLOWSHIP & PRAYER Poem Devotional

May 13________________________________________
All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper) and to prayer. – Acts 2:42(NLT)
TEACHING, FELLOWSHIP & PRAYER
A poem and essay by ILMA
To those who wants to be a follower of Christ
You need to follow his teachings and apply in your life
Fellowship and prayers are part of your calling
You cannot isolate yourself; it hinders you from growing.
Jesus’ disciples shared meals often during the Lord’s supper
He calls us to fellowship and to pray with all believers
When we surround ourselves with our sisters and brothers
We encourage each other as we all share our burdens.

Ephesians 6:18 tells us to pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. We are commanded to always pray for all believers everywhere. Matthew 18:20 says that where two or three are gathered in his name, Christ is there. I am sure that God wants you to pray on your own regularly but getting into fellowship with other believers to pray is much more powerful. Corporate praying is integral in the church, along with worship, communion and fellowship. Praying together enlightens and ties us as we share our common faith.
It knits us together in a unique bond of friendship found nowhere else in life. Participate in fellowship and you will grow.
PRAYER
Thank you for giving us a family of believers to bond with.
REFLECTION
What happens when you don’t fellowship with other believers and keep to yourself?

ON FELLOWSHIP AND WORSHIP Poem Devotional

They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper and shared their meals with great joy and generosity. – Acts 2: 46(NLT)
ON FELLOWSHIP AND WORSHIP
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you go gather to worship with your spiritual family?
Do you share meals with others to remind you of Christ’s suffering?
Believers are all called to build relationships in the body
Do you try to encourage and connect with others regularly?
When two or more gather in God’s name, He is in their midst
Sharing your joy to God’s people is like giving him thanks
Encourage and share your burdens and testimony
It builds up the body of Jesus Christ greatly.

One of the gauge of an authentic Christian life is a healthy relationship with other believers. Hebrews 10:24-25 suggests that we must think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works and tells us not to neglect meeting with one another to encourage each other. We cannot call ourselves true believers if all we do is go to church on Sunday and listen to the sermon and not even talk to anyone in the church. Can you imagine being in a family and no one acknowledges the presence of each other? Many homes are broken because there are no relationships built. Let’s worship together with other Christians, share meals and grow in faith.

FELLOWSHIP WEAKENS DARKNESS Poem Devotional

December 30                                                                         The Power of God’s Word
But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son cleanses us from sin.
– 1 John 1:7 (NLT)
FELLOWSHIP WEAKENS DARKNESS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are there areas of your life that still need needs light?
Come and gather as believers so you won’t lose sight
Where two or three people are gathered in Jesus’ name
He is there to forgive and erase your shame.
If we are living in the light, we will have fellowship
It helps us mature and grow when we have kinship
It paves the way to the truth and keeps us away from evil
It diminishes opportunities and shuts the door to the devil.
Who are your friends? The old adage “Friends of the same feathers, flock together” was probably coined from Proverbs 13:20 which says “Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.”
The bible tells us that if we are living in the light, then we have fellowship with each other and Jesus’ blood will cleanse us from sin. Proverbs 18:1-2 cautions us from isolating ourselves from our sisters and brothers. It makes us self-centered and focused only on our own understanding and opinion. We were made for others not just for ourselves.
PRAYER
Lord, bring me godly people to fellowship with.
