LAYING FOUNDATION LIKE A BUILDER
A poem by ILMA
We are God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News
Each of us did the work the Lord gave us; I planted the seed in your hearts
Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow
It’s not important who does the planting, or the watering
What’s important is that God makes the seed grow
The one who plants or waters work with the same purpose
Both will be rewarded for their own hard work
For we are both God’s workers, God’s field and God’s building.
Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like a builder
Now others are building on it. When building, we must be very careful
For no one can lay any foundation other than Jesus Christ
On judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work one has finished.
The fire will show if a person’s work has any value
If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward
But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss
The builder will be saved, but barely escaping through a wall of flames.

MEMORY VERSE
Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful.
– 1 Corinthians 3:10
Read: 1 Corinthians 3:1-15
If you have constructed any project, you will find that a good foundation is important in ensuring that what you have built is going to stand the test of time and other things that will put stress or weight on it. I recently began building sectional modular couches and because it was my first build from scratch, it started to fall apart in less than a year.

REFLECTION
• Why is it essential to be solidly anchored on Christ as a believer?
• What happens to people when they forget to give credit to God and take it instead?

THE LORD IS YOUR ANCHOR Poem Devotional

April 5________________________________________
I see that the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises! My body rests in hope.
-Acts 2:25-26(NLT)
THE LORD IS YOUR ANCHOR
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you go through trials and suffering
It may seem hopeless and debilitating
Remember that the Lord is your anchor
He is right there, reach out and be humble.
Do not be shaken, instead, your hope in him
If you rely on Jesus, you will eventually win
He is worth all of your praise and worship
Run to him when challenges start to creep.

An anchor is a device, normally made of metal, used to connect a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the craft from drifting due to wind or current. Anchors achieve holding power either by “hooking” into the seabed, via sheer mass, or a combination of the two. The purpose of an anchor is to give a stability and steadiness to the ship or boat. Just like how the anchor functions for vessels, the Lord Jesus Christ acts as the same for all of us who hooks up to him. The more weight and baggage we carry; the more stability Christ will give us. When life’s storms come, make sure that you are anchored on him ever so tightly.

PRAYER
Lord, thank you for being my anchor during life’s challenges.

How can we maintain a dependency on Jesus regularly?

WHAT BRINGS STABILITY Poem Devotional

February 5________________________________________
Wickedness never brings stability, but the godly have deep roots. -Proverbs 12:3(NLT)
WHAT BRINGS STABILITY
A poem and essay by ILMA
Where do you rely for your strength and growth?
Is it from a greater source or from this world?
Are your roots anchored on God’s righteousness?
What will destroy you will be a love for wickedness.
Evil never brings stability, it makes you weak
The godly have deep roots and it is God they seek
They will be rewarded with his power and wisdom
Why compromise your inheritance and freedom?

The world has corrupted many people’s view of strength and stability. We have been bombarded with a craving for material things in this world. We seek to gratify ourselves often rather than serve God and others. We work hard to purchase stuff that we don’t even have time to use or look at. We try to keep up with the Joneses’ and satisfy our desires most of the time. We scheme and want more in life and end up with less. The enemy steals our time, our joy and peace without us even being aware of it. If our priorities lie in self-gratification, we are in for much trouble. We open the door for the enemy to use us as a platform to propagate wickedness.
The bible says that evil will never bring us a good foundation. Only in relying to Christ can we have deep roots.

PRAYER
Lord, help me to rely only on you alone.

BUILDING A STRONG FOUNDATION Poem Devotional

But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins. – Luke 6:49(NLT)
BUILDING A STRONG FOUNDATION
A poem and essay by ILMA
Those who hear the word of God and obey
They are relying on his strength and might each day
Their foundation is solid and will not collapse
They will not be swept down and they will adapt.
Those who does not heed God’s guidance in his word
They will find it difficult to navigate this world
Building a strong foundation in God’s truth
Makes you strong and allows the Spirit to bear fruit.

When people build their houses, they have to make sure that the foundation is strong enough so that they can ensure a house that will be stable to hold up in the midst of weather changes. Can it withstand storms, floods, earthquakes, fires and other disasters?
Building a strong foundation is crucial even in our spiritual lives.
The bible tells us that Jesus is the rock that we can build our lives on. Anyone who seeks God and obey him is actually building a strong foundation that will stand the most challenging trials and tests that will come their way. It cautions those who hear his word and not heed it. They will collapse and be ruined.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to never stop abiding in you and seeking you.

A HOUSE WITHOUT FOUNDATION

But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins. –Luke 6:49(NLT)
A HOUSE WITHOUT FOUNDATION
A poem and essay by ILMA
A house without foundation will easily disintegrate
Just as a person would fail without a walk of faith
Anyone who hears God’s word and don’t obey
Will bring a heap of ruins and will easily be swayed.
Without a relationship and intimacy with the Lord
You will be consumed and corrupted by the world
When you decide to seek, hear and follow God’s word
You will be strong and will be like a soldier for the Lord.
There are many Christians who do not walk their talk. You will see it with the way they interact with others. They live double lives, pretending to be what who they are really not. They want to show others that they are good but their minds and hearts are full of un-forgiveness and wickedness. I used to be like this counterfeit Christian. Thank God that he delivered me from hypocrisy.
The bible says that anyone who hears God’s word and doesn’t obey will be weak and easily collapse with challenges. On the other hand, those who obey God’s word, they will have a strong foundation and will not be easily tossed.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for giving me strength.
