So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law. – Galatians 5:1(NLT)
LIVE A FREE LIFE
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you believed in Jesus, he freed you from sin
You need to seek his word so you can totally win
Christ died for us on the cross to set us free
Why do we struggle to receive freedom from sin?
We were set free while we were still sinners
Why do we allow Satan to trap us constantly?
Remember to choose a life that is free and loving
This is how we to stay away from bondage to sin.

I watched a movie of someone who was released from prison after over ten years in it. He was innocent but was a victim of the corrupt judicial system in the U.S. and was given a verdict to serve for a decade. When they are released from prison, they are brought into a place where they can start joining the society again. A lot them
ended up depressed and killed themselves a few weeks later from their release because they didn’t know how to live free lives anymore. They wallowed in the discrimination that society easily threw at them.
Just like these former prisoners, we can also allow our old lives to prevent us from embracing the new creation from believing in Jesus.

PRAYER
Lord, help me to embrace the new life you have given me.
REFLECTION
How can we continue to live free lives?

FREEDOM IN CHRIST

For the Lord is Spirit, so wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

FREEDOM IN CHRIST
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you a slave of something?
You can always be delivered from sin
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
It will transform your very life.
For the Lord Jesus is Spirit
Believe in him and you’ll be free
There are no bondages he can’t break
Have faith in Christ, for goodness’ sake.

Freedom is defined as the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. This is the worldly meaning to freedom. Sadly, many people abuse this state of being unrestrained by stepping over other people’s own freedom. We cannot claim that we are free if we do not respect other people’s boundaries.
The bible defines freedom in John 8:34 when he tells that true freedom comes from a life that is holy. In John 8:34, Jesus said that everyone who sins is a slave of sin. In verse 36, is the antidote to bondage; if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.
Galatians 5:1 tells us that Christ is the bondage breaker. He has truly set us free. He warns us to ensure that we stay free and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law. If we believe in Christ, we will be free.

PRAYER
Thank you Lord for breaking the bondages as soon as we believed in you.

You have died with Christ and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of the world. -Colossians 3:20 (NLT)
FREE INDEED
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you believed in Jesus Christ
He has freed you from bondage in this life
Why do you keep on following the world’s rules?
Shouldn’t you be focused only on God’s truth?
When Christ suffered and died for you on the cross
You were freed and no longer slaves to sin and lost
Be faithful to the only one who can keep you free
He alone can grant you forgiveness and mercy.

There are some believers who do not live in the freedom that was given to them when Christ died on the cross for all of us sinners. It took me many years before I finally accepted the new life that I received from Christ’s blood. I kept on going back to my old self but once I got revelation from our Lord, I made a decision to choose to live that free life that was a result of his sacrifice.
When we focus on the standards of this world, it would be very difficult to stay free. Satan wants to steal, kill and destroy our relationship with God. Focus on Jesus and you will know the truth and will be set free.

PRAYER
Lord, thank you for granting me freedom from sin by your blood.

So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. – John 8:36(NLT)
FREE INDEED
A poem and essay by ILMA
What is stopping you from being free?
Is it your love for this world or idolatry?
Do you enslave yourself with works of the flesh?
Are you performing so you could be blessed?
God gave us his son so we can be free
He loved us so dearly and so faithfully
Christ died on the cross to cleanse our sins
We will all be free indeed if we believe him.

I was bonded to so many sins for over four decades of my life. I did everything I can to gain my own salvation. I didn’t know any better until I became a born again Christian. There were many things I was a slave to. Religion was one of my prisons. I was raised to be very materialistic and ambitious which led to many idols in my life. My mind was also another enslavement in my life. I constantly want to be in control and know as much as I can so I could manage whatever difficulties come my way. Pride and arrogance was another prison I struggled with for many years. Until God revealed to me his great love for me despite all my rottenness, I would still be a slave to all these sins. The bible tells us that when Christ died for us, we are truly free
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for freeing me.
REFLECTION
What current bondages are you still enslaved with?
