DEPEND ON GOD’S GRACE Poem Devotional

We have depended on God’s grace not on our own human wisdom.
– 1 Corinthians 1:12(NLT)
DEPEND ON GOD’S GRACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you do things on your own understanding?
As a believer, God wants your dependence on Him
To live a life for Christ is to depend on God’s grace
It is not doing things on your own strength.
God created all things and we only live by his grace
Without it, there will be chaos among the human race
Rely only on the mercy and faithfulness from Jesus
He loves you so much and considers you very precious.

Many people have lived lives of independence and self-reliance. I know some Christians who are totally blind to God’s grace. The world system has corrupted them in thinking that they can apply some worldly concept in truth. I used to go to a church that didn’t understand the truth of depending on God’s grace. It was a performance based church that propagated showing off good deeds and being complacent with growing in the word of God. Some people even use the church to get their own agenda fulfilled. Sad to say that even some pastors and leaders fall into this trap.
The bible tells us that we need to depend on God’s grace and not on our own understanding. When we do things or make decisions, do we allow God’s grace to flow through it?________________________________________PRAYER
Lord, help me to live under your grace and not on my abilities.

How can a believer be more aware of God’s grace?

FALLING AWAY FROM GOD’S GRACE Poem Devotional

For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace – Galatians 5:4(NLT)
FALLING AWAY FROM GOD’S GRACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you committed your life to Jesus Christ
You will be showered with his grace in life
You need not keep on following rules
Openly receive his mercy, grace and his truth.
You will be falling away from God’s grace right away
When you obsessively follow the law always
You will be denying yourself of all his blessings
Walk in love instead of keeping the law strictly.

Are you a stickler to rules? Do you follow the law just so you can be right with the Lord? I used to be legalistic and followed the commandments so I can feel right with myself and with God. I didn’t know I lived in the old testament by following the ten commandments and abiding by it for the sake of being saved. Romans 13:10 says that love is the fulfillment of the law and in Matthew 22:36-40, we are given the highest commandment to love God first and our neighbors as ourselves. It states that love rules over law. When we do things out of just obeying the law, we lose out on what is more important, which is love. We fall away from God’s grace when we prioritize law over love.

PRAYER
Lord, let me follow your commands out of love and not just out of duty.

NOT I BUT GOD’S GRACE Poem Devotional

March 4________________________________________
Whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace. – 1 Corinthians 15:10(NLT)
NOT I BUT GOD’S GRACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Whatever I possess right now is not truly mine
It is a special favor on me bestowed by Christ
It is not I but God’s grace that brought me here
Only God knows all my weaknesses and fears.
Despite all the hard work I do to for his kingdom
I cannot boast because then I won’t have freedom
I thank my Lord who constantly shower me with grace
It is only fitting that I glorify him and give him praise.

I was a very proud person before I was a born again Christian. I always took pleasure when I accomplish something. Though I may not speak or boast openly about it, I had this sense of victory inside me that I did it and I needed to be acknowledged for it. I was so foolish to think that it was my doing and effort that me successful in those endeavors I chose.
The bible tells us that it is not I but God’s grace that brought me where I was and it wasn’t for my own but for his kingdom purpose. ________________________________________
PRAYER
Lord, help me to never take my eyes of your grace.

ACCESSING GOD’S GRACE

Aug 28                                                                  The Power of God’s Word
For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.
– Galatians 5:4(NLT)
ACCESSING GOD’S GRACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Those who are legalistic and religiously follow the law
Watch out! You become an easy prey to the foe
God doesn’t want us to live only to follow a set of rules
He wants us to trust him completely and not be a fool.
When you focus on the law, you break away from Christ
When you work to earn points to make yourself right
There’s a chance you lose accessing God’s grace
Instead, he wants us to walk in love constantly and grow in faith.
Have you ever worked at earning points by doing good works and following a set of rules and regulations? I used to do it all the time. As children, we were told to follow a set of rules to protect us because we don’t have the maturity to understand consequences of actions. Sadly, many people reach adulthood but still in bondage to human traditions. We are cautioned not to be bound by it in Mark 7:8. If you try to make yourself right with God through following laws and traditions, you are cut off from Christ and have fallen away from God’s grace.
PRAYER
Lord, help me mature in faith.
REFLECTION
How does love break down legalism?
