AS HUMBLE AS A CHILD Poem Devotional

December 10________________________________________
Anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:4(NLT)
AS HUMBLE AS A CHILD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Those who want to be the greatest in heaven
They will have to be as humble as children
If we want to enter God’s kingdom
Let us stay pure and live in freedom.
If you become as meek as these innocent beings
You will have a special place in heaven
Seek the Lord and you will stay innocent and pure
You will be lost if you depart from the truth.

Do you ever wonder why children are special in God’s eyes? Let’s look at the traits of a child. Under normal circumstances, they are innocent, pure, vulnerable and trust easily. These are only some of the reasons why we protect children. They are excited, curious, creative and open. No wonder children have a special place in God’s heart. They are uncorrupted and the purest of all human beings. God made man in his image but man defied God and defiled themselves. After man’s fall, our make was altered and tarnished. Our desires became corrupted by wanting to know and be like God. We became focused on ourselves. Children, have preserved their original form as God wanted humans to be. Humility is one of the traits that children possess that God treasures most. No wonder he requires us to be as humble as these little wonderful beings in order to enter his kingdom.

HUMBLE YOURSELF Poem Devotional

May 11________________________________________
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
-James 4:7(NLT)
HUMBLE YOURSELF
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you humble yourself to the Lord
You are bringing him praise and laud
It is the way Christ lived his life
He wants you to soak in his bright light.
Do not think highly of yourself than others
Remember, they are all your sisters and brothers
When you live in humility, you resist the devil
When you give up pride, you are running from evil.

There are many ways to fight the devil but the most effective is to obey the Lord and humble oneself. This is how we ensure that we close tightly the door so that there is no chance that he can penetrate in our hearts.
The Lord Jesus Christ lived an example of humility. Even though he was God himself, he chose to be born of humble origins. Despite his lordship and power, he decided to become a man and fulfill the promise of God to save us all from sin.
Humility is only achieved through the grace that God gives us. We cannot attain it in our own strength. It is a free gift that can only be received by obedience. When we have a relationship with Christ, we hear his voice. We have a choice to obey what he asks and have the humility to give him praise.

PRAYER
Lord, thank you for sampling humility to us.
REFLECTION
How can we learn to obey and be humble?

The Lord mocks the mockers but is gracious to the humble. – Proverbs 3:34(NLT)
GRACIOUS TO THE HUMBLE
A poem and essay by ILMA
To those who put down their brothers and sisters
The Lord isn’t please how you treat others
There is no room for mockers in God’s kingdom
He won’t allow oppression to all his children.
God is gracious to the humble
He guides them so they won’t stumble
When one lives in humility
They are living in sanctity.

The problem with our world today is that it propagates selfishness and pride. We boast about our abilities, possessions, power, fame and many things and fail to recognize that we are nothing without God. We take credit for all the gifts and blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon us. We perform and show off all that we have without praising the Lord for whatever we were endowed with. Sometimes, we do it unknowingly or at times we purposely do it.
When Christ was among us during his lifetime here on earth, he set an example for us to follow. He wants us to live in humility. The fact that even though he was God, he didn’t brag about it. He always pointed back to the Father who sent him and yet, he was equal with God. He never flaunted his power and authority. He used it to give God glory. God is gracious to the humble.

PRAYER
Lord, give me humility so I can point to you always.
REFLECTION
Why is it easy for us to boast about things we have?

I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts. -Isaiah 57:15(NLT)
REVIVAL OF THE HUMBLE AND REPENTANT
A poem and essay by ILMA
To those who have been crushed and humbled
Their spirits will be restored and they won’t crumble
The Lord will always be there for the heartbroken
He revives the courage of those who are downtrodden.
Those who were once lost but have repented
They will be protected and will be rejuvenated
Jesus Christ died so that the oppressed will be saved
The Lord’s power will help them once again to be brave.

Whenever we are oppressed and discriminated, we usually react very negatively. We either get angry or keep a grudge inside us or we start making vows that we will never allow anyone again to put us down. This is the natural reaction we humans respond with in times of being treated unjustly. How does God want us to respond to such injustice? What would Jesus do when he was treated unfairly? 1 Peter 1:6-7 commands us to be truly glad when we have trials and sufferings while we are here on earth because it shows that our faith is genuine.
Jesus Christ is the restorer of the crushed spirit of the humble and he revives the courage of those who have contrite hearts. All of those who are unjustly treated will have a revival.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for dying for the oppressed and broken hearted.
REFLECTION
What manifestations of revival have you experienced after much pain and suffering?
