A TENTH OF GOD’S PROVISION Poem Devotional

November 26________________________________________
And this memorial pillar I have set up will become a place for worshiping God, and I will present to God a tenth of everything he gives me.” – Genesis 28:22(NLT)
A TENTH OF GOD’S PROVISION
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you praise God with a tenth of his provision?
He will multiply and prosper your giving
Remember that he owns everything
Honor the Lord with your received blessings?
Jacob set up a place to worship God’s generosity
Do you do the same to praise the Lord Almighty?
He only asks a tenth of what he provides
Be generous, follow him and always abide.
________________________________________Many Christians do not honor what God instructs us so we could abound in life. It took me many years to do tithing because in the religion I was born into, it wasn’t taught. People gave scraps and coins to the church and expect that God will prosper them. There is a story in the bible that clearly explains this requirement by God in Genesis 4. Cain and Abel were the offspring of Adam and Eve. Abel became a shepherd, while Cain was a farmer. At harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the LORD. Abel gave the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. God accepted Abel’s gift but not Cain which angered him and motivated him to kill his brother. God is honored when we give him the best of what we have.

TEACHING, FELLOWSHIP & PRAYER Poem Devotional

May 13________________________________________
All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper) and to prayer. – Acts 2:42(NLT)
TEACHING, FELLOWSHIP & PRAYER
A poem and essay by ILMA
To those who wants to be a follower of Christ
You need to follow his teachings and apply in your life
Fellowship and prayers are part of your calling
You cannot isolate yourself; it hinders you from growing.
Jesus’ disciples shared meals often during the Lord’s supper
He calls us to fellowship and to pray with all believers
When we surround ourselves with our sisters and brothers
We encourage each other as we all share our burdens.

Ephesians 6:18 tells us to pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. We are commanded to always pray for all believers everywhere. Matthew 18:20 says that where two or three are gathered in his name, Christ is there. I am sure that God wants you to pray on your own regularly but getting into fellowship with other believers to pray is much more powerful. Corporate praying is integral in the church, along with worship, communion and fellowship. Praying together enlightens and ties us as we share our common faith.
It knits us together in a unique bond of friendship found nowhere else in life. Participate in fellowship and you will grow.
PRAYER
Thank you for giving us a family of believers to bond with.
REFLECTION
What happens when you don’t fellowship with other believers and keep to yourself?

UNRECOGNIZED Poem Devotional

My people don’t recognize my care for them. – Isaiah 1:3(NLT)
UNRECOGNIZED
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you able to show appreciation for your blessings?
When you count them, you are praising him
Take time to look at the flowers and smell them
God made creation so you will remember him.
He is there whether you are having a good or bad day
He rescues all those who love him in every way
He grants your requests and provide for your needs
Do you praise him and do you constantly believe?

When children reach their teen years, they sometimes pull away from the parents. They can be vulnerable in their search for identity if they get into the wrong company. For the first 13 years of my son’s life, we were very close and open with each other. I was a single parent and we were inseparable. By the time he was 11, he started rebelling and did his best to stay away from me. He did the opposite of what we used to do, praising the Lord and praying to him daily. I didn’t realize that was going on but after his father died, I found out that his own father was teaching him the ways of the world and contradicting all the values I taught him. It was that time that he didn’t recognize my love for him. Sometimes our heavenly father may feel the same way with us.

ADULTERY BRINGS SHAME Poem Devotional

But the man who commits adultery is an utter fool, for he destroys himself. He will be wounded and disgraced. This shame will never be erased. – Proverbs 6:32-33(NLT)
ADULTERY BRINGS SHAME
A poem and essay by ILMA
To be unfaithful to the one you love is a form of adultery
It is a way of breaking your promise to your one and only
When you commit this sin, you destroy your relationship
It brings about pain and betrayal in your friendship.
Anyone who commits adultery is destroying himself
It brings chaos, shame and guilt to the inner self
The indignity of this act brings much pain and sorrow
Never commit this act so you won’t destroy your tomorrow.

Easton bible dictionary defines “adultery” as conjugal infidelity. An adulterer was a man who had illicit intercourse with a married or a betrothed woman, and such a woman was an adulteress. Intercourse between a married man and an unmarried woman was fornication. Adultery was regarded as a great social wrong, as well as a great sin. Idolatry, covetousness, and apostasy are spoken of as adultery spiritually in Jeremiah 3:6-9 , Ezekiel 16:32, Hosea 1-3 and Revelation 2:22. In James 4:4, he calls those who are friends with the world as adulterers. One cannot be following the standards of this world and also be loyal to the Lord simultaneously. Anyone who commits adultery is destroying himself or herself.
