MY HELP AND MY DELIVERER! ILMA’S VLOG

MY HELP AND MY DELIVERER!
I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry.
2 He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog,
And set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.
3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.
4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not turn to the proud,
To those who go astray after a lie!5 You have multiplied, O LORD my God,
Your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you!
I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.
6 In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear.
Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required.
7 Then I said, “Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me:
8 I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.” – Psalm 40:1-8

This psalm of David manifests his total dependence on God. It also shows how he is so much patient. We know that patience is a fruit of the Spirit and so we can actually deduce that he is a led by God’s Spirit to constantly hope for God’s deliverance. He praised the Lord for his help and deliverance, something David has never failed to exude. Even in the direst situation, he still praises the Lord. His confidence must have come from his deep intimate relationship with his Lord and Deliverer. He even blessed those who put their trust in the Lord and proclaim him as the only God who is incomparable with any other gods.

ADORATION: Praise our Lord, our Help and our Deliverer! He is steadfast and faithful.
CONFESSION: Forgive me Lord whenever I fail to trust you especially in times of troubles.
THANKSGIVING: Thank you for letting me experience adversities so I can rely on you and grow my faith and endurance.
SUPPLICATION: May all the people of God trust only in the Lord who delivers us from evil.

REFLECTION
• How can David still delight to do God’s will in the midst of attacks from his enemies? How can we develop a patience and confidence in God like David?

POWERFUL PRESENCE Poem Devotional

August 19________________________________________
Oh that you would burst from the heavens and come down! How the mountains would quake in your presence. – Isaiah 64:1(NLT)
POWERFUL PRESENCE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Oh Lord, you are all mighty
Give me wisdom to see my destiny
You burst from the heavens to come down
You saved a wretch like me and found.
You are the most powerful presence ever
Your love is highest and it lasts forever
All your creation bows down to your power
They all quake and quiver and cower.

Have you ever met someone who radiates so much power and attendance? Whenever they come in a room, all eyes are riveted to them and they emit such radiance. There are some people who come and go and nobody notices them at all. They try to do everything to make themselves unnoticed because they don’t want to be looked at. I knew someone who would literally make herself small and invisible so they won’t be seen. Most people who likes to hide from others are usually compensating for their lack of confidence.
The bible talks about the most powerful presence on earth, the Lord Jesus Christ. Each time he walked into a place, he turns heads and get everyone to listen to him. He radiates love and gets anyone instantly captivated by his person. He can command any of his creation to anything he says. What a powerful presence.
PRAYER
Lord, you are awesome. Let me give you praise always.

How do you respond to God’s presence?

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. -Colossians 3:10(NLT)
BECOME LIKE YOUR CREATOR
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you are born again in Christ
You learn to live in your new life
Put on your new nature
Live on truth and you will mature.
Hunger for Jesus and you will know him
He will give you wisdom to overcome sin
Become like your creator who made you like him
Live a life that he planned for you so you can win.

When I became born again, putting on my new life was a challenge. I pushed through by the grace of God. There were layers of bad habits that needed to be confronted and covered in Jesus’ blood. I didn’t know spiritual warfare until the third year of my conversion as a renewed Christian. In the first three years of my life, as I moved to a new life, the enemy kept on stealing the seeds sown in my heart through God’s word. He used my past pains to pull me back and also used the people I am in relations with as open doors where he could visit me from time to time. As I meditated on God’s word day in and day out, I started to walk in God’s Spirit. He taught me how to take authority over the enemy and put on my new nature in Christ.

Thank you for your Spirit in me Lord.

God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. – Galatians 4:5(NLT)
ADOPTED AS HIS OWN
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you sinned, you were separated from Him
He gave his only begotten Son so you will be redeemed
We were slaves to law until Christ gave us freedom
We were lost, but God took us all for adoption.
He accepted us and took us in his wings
He gave us wisdom so we could see
He gave Christ so we can be righteous
He freed us from sin and so we can be glorious.

Being orphaned can be isolating. Losing one of your parents or even both of them could be very overwhelming and can leave a feeling of emptiness. Each person longs to belong to someone. Orphans search for their biological parents even if they are still adopted by good people. A part of each person wants to know their origin. Somehow it makes them feel whole to do that.
The bible says that God sent his only son so we could be freed from slavery to the law. He wants to adopt us as his own children even after we have separated ourselves from him through sin and disobedience. The role that the blood of Jesus did to us is to free us from the debt and slavery of sin.
PRAYER
Lord, help us to accept your adoption fully.
REFLECTION
When did you ever feel you didn’t belong to God?
