WHEN YOU LOVE THE WORLD
A poem by ILMA
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you,
When you love the world, you don’t have the Father’s love
For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure,
A craving for everything and to be proud of achievements and possessions.
These cravings are not from the Father, but are from this world
And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave for
Anyone who does what pleases God will live forever and have eternal life
So, make it your goal to please God so you are ready when Christ returns.
As believers, you know the difference between truth and lies from his word
Watch out for anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ for that is an antichrist
Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist
Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either.
So, you must remain faithful and in fellowship with the Son and with the Father
And in this fellowship, we enjoy the eternal life he promised us long ago
You have received the Holy Spirit and he lives within you
You don’t need anyone to teach you for the Spirit teaches you that is true.

MEMORY VERSE
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you. For when you love the world, you don’t have the Father’s love. – 1 John 2:15
Read: 1 John 2:15-27
It is interesting how some Christians think that they can coast along loving the world and being a Christian. They say they are believers but they still follow the world system so easily.

REFLECTION
• Why can’t we love the world and the things it offers especially if we have committed our lives to Jesus?
• Why is it important to constantly be in relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit?

GOD’S PREFERED WORSHIP Poem Devotional

October 24________________________________________
But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.
-John 4:23(NLT)
GOD’S PREFERED WORSHIP
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you bringing the Lord all the praise?
Is it a kind of worship that focuses on his grace?
God prefers you to worship him in spirit and truth
He values those who allow His word to take root.
God is looking for those who will worship Him this way
He doesn’t care about religion; he wants you to pray
Pray in the spirit at all times and on every occasion
Obey and follow his will to overcome temptation.

Some Christians don’t know how to worship God, so they concoct their own way of doing so. I used to do my own religious rituals before I became born again. I went to hear mass, prayed to different saints and Mary, received sacraments, prayed novenas and the rosary for four decades. What I didn’t do was to pray in the spirit at all times and in truth. I knew at some moments in my life that I was led by the Spirit but I didn’t always follow what I was led to do. I didn’t know the truth. I thank God that He freed me now and I can worship him in truth and spirit.

PRAYER
Thank you Lord for your truth and setting me free.
REFLECTION
Why do you think God prefer to be worshiped in spirit and in truth?

November 26                                                                     The Power of God’s Word
Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.- Psalm 34:12-13 (NLT)
SECRET TO LONGEVITY AND PROSPERITY
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you want to live a long and prosperous life?
Have you been feeding on the word to be in the light?
Do you take care of your heart and your body?
Does your mouth talk about things that are pure and godly?
If you want to live long and be wealthy
You ought to keep your tongue from words that are filthy
Keep lies out of your lips then you will gain prosperity
When you follow Christ, you will thrive and have longevity.
So many seminars on prosperity are taken by people obsessed with getting rich. In God’s economy, there is a different secret ingredient to have longevity and be prosperous. Psalm 34 speaks about the formula to gain long life and wealth. It says that we must keep our tongues from speaking evil and our lips from telling lies.
I suspect that unbelievers will find this key ingredient very bizarre because they don’t understand how God operates. An authentic Christian who has walked with God long enough and has spiritually grown knows that everything that thrives is a result of a pure heart and a good mouth.
PRAYER
Lord, deliver me from lies.
REFLECTION
Why do you think people tell lies and speak evil?
