Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “My servants will eat, but you will starve. My servants will drink, but you will be thirsty. My servants will rejoice but you will be sad and ashamed. My servants will sing for joy but you will cry in sorrow and despair.
– Isaiah 65:13-14(NLT)
WHEN YOU SERVE THE LORD
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you serve the Lord, he will feed you and not starve
When you serve the Lord, you will rejoice and not be sad
The Lord’s people will drink and not be thirsty
They will be able to overcome and defeat the enemy.
Those who serve the world will cry in sorrow and despair
They live in fear and conflict; their hearts are full of shame
When you serve Jesus, the only source of life
You will defeat the enemy and you will never die.

What is the difference between a servant of God and a worldly person? Isaiah gives us a clear picture what our lives would be if we choose to serve the Lord. We will never starve. We will have no lack. We will be loving, joyful and have peace. On the other hand, those who choose the world as their god, will starve, be sad, discontented and be enslaved by their desires. They will be tossed and turned by the enemy. Why would anyone want to live a life of shame and despair?
