PROOF OF FAITH Poem Devotional
A poem by ILMA
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled; trust in me, also trust God
There is more than enough room in my Father’s home
Why will I tell you that I’m going to make a place for you if it weren’t so?
Be patient, when everything is ready, I will come and get you
This way, you will always be with me wherever I am
Do you have an idea the way to where I am going?”
“We have no clue where you’re heading; how can we know the way?”
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father but by me.
“If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is”, Jesus said
From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied”
“Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father!
So why are you asking me to show him to you?
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
Anyone who believes in me will do the same as I’ve done, even greater works.

MEMORY VERSE
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. – John 14:12
Read: John 14:1-14
In this exchange of Jesus with his disciples, he tells his followers what is awaiting them in the Father’s house and the promise of eternal life. It seems though that despite the many years that they have been with Jesus, they still do not understand many things. Jesus reminds them that his presence should make them know the Father already and that if they truly believe in him, they’ll follow his works and even do greater than him.

REFLECTION
• Why is it that even though Jesus promised his disciples many eternal things, they still were wanting to see God the Father? Are they unbelieving?

SAME OR EVEN GREATER WORKS
A poem and essay by ILMA
To those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
They will do the same works as he did in his life
Because they are committed and faithful
They will have blessings and will be fruitful.
The Lord promises them that they can do even better
He even said that they can do more things greater
Believe that the Lord is with you when you commit
He is faithful and true so you need to submit.

What is the greatest manifestation of a believer? Is it what he says or how he lives his life? Many have turned their backs to God because of hypocrites. They don’t live the life that Jesus sampled for them. They don’t obey his commands or even walk in love. They do lip service and do not take the gospel and apply it in their lives. No wonder, they are fruitless and defeated in their lives.
The bible tells us that Jesus promised us that if we believe in him, we can be able to do the same works he did or even greater. Why don’t some Christians believe this promise of greater works through God’s spirit?

PRAYER
Lord, help me to be able to follow your ways always.
REFLECTION
How can we faithfully lead a life like Christ?

DO WHAT CHRIST DID
A poem and essay by ILMA
Christ wants us to follow his example
That is the sign of a true disciple
Anyone who believes in him does what he did
They follow him and choose to do good deeds.
Truly, truly, Jesus wants us to do the same works
Like him, we are precious to God and have worth
He sits beside the Father and wants us to be there too
Only in doing what he did will we be saved and renewed.

When Jesus was with his disciples, he shared with them many truths and promises. One of these truths says that the proof of our faith lies on what we do. It didn’t mention that it is based on what we say. Some Christians live double lives. They declare that they believe in Jesus and yet they live worldly lives and believe in so many lies that the enemy present in their lives. I, too am guilty of this when I was bound with the spirit of religion. I did what my religion required which was not what always Jesus did when he was still alive. We are asked to follow his example if we claim to be Christians.
PRAYER
Lord, let me always follow your example.
REFLECTION
Why do you think people don’t do what they say?

IF YOU BELIEVE
A poem and essay by ILMA
If you believe, you will follow his way
It is the only guarantee you won’t be swayed
If you believe, you will hunger for his word
It will protect you from corruption of the world.
If you believe, you will pour out your heart
You will serve God and others and never depart
If you believe, you will do the works of Christ
You will be on your way to the Father in the next life.

What is the gauge of an authentic Christian? It is not just going to church on Sunday nor putting up stickers in your car that you are one. There is more to it than just saying you are a Christian. I was a Christian for so long but didn’t get it, until God gave me revelation about his expectations from believers.
The bible says that if we are believers, he expects us to follow the same works as Christ has done or even greater works. God promises us a place in his kingdom if we follow the example that Christ has given us when he came down here on earth as a human. He challenges all believers to follow Jesus’ work.
PRAYER
Lord, give me strength to follow Jesus’ works.
REFLECTION
What works of Christ have you followed?
