Unseal my lips, O Lord, that my mouth may praise you. – Psalm 51:15(NLT)
LET MY MOUTH PRAISE YOU
A poem and essay by ILMA
Lord, you are awesome and praiseworthy
Everything you’ve created amazes me
Let me only have praise in my mouth
Help me only to let kind words out.
Unseal my lips so I can glorify you
Change me and have my mind renewed
Cleanse my heart so I can only say pure words
Help me rend my tongue so I can overcome this world.

You might have heard the saying that if you have nothing better to say, don’t open your mouth. It is natural for us to see and say the negative but supernatural to have the prudence to control what comes out of it. The bible says in James that if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could control ourselves in every other way. He also mentions that the tongue is a flame of fire, a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself; that people can tame all kinds of animals but no one can tame the tongue which is evil and full of deadly poison. Isn’t this so true? We could have saved some relationships if we were able to control it. We ought to only open our lips to praise God.
PRAYER
Help me rend my tongue Lord!
REFLECTION
How can we discipline and control what comes out our mouths?
