Don’t act thoughtlessly but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
– Ephesians 5:17(NLT)
DANGERS OF THOUGHTLESSNESS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you listen to what God is saying?
Do you hear his voice as you are praying?
Don’t act thoughtlessly, heed his word
Keep your minds uncorrupted by this world.
When thoughtlessness becomes a habit
You will grieve the Holy Spirit
Think of what God wants you to do
Seek the Lord and you’ll know what is true.

Have you ever met someone who is thoughtless? I have been in relationship with many thoughtless people in the past. It was a struggle to maintain sanity and intimacy with people who have an “I don’t care” attitude. No amount of explanation will make them understand the importance of relating with someone. When someone does things without thinking, they are bound to commit mistakes or hurt someone. Speaking out something thoughtlessly will most likely bring a tactless and insensitive statement or comment. When we are absorbed with our own selfish desires or wants, we are unable to hear God’s will for us. The bible tells us to consult the Lord in all things, big or small. We are also asked to love one another like he loves us. One of the dangers of thoughtlessness is that we miss out on what God is saying to us and fail to receive his promises and blessings. Thoughtlessness kills relationships. It isolates us from others.

PRAYER
Lord, give me an ear to hear what you are saying.
REFLECTION
How can one become more thoughtful?

I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways. I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word. – Psalm 119:15-16(NLT)
REFLECTING ON GOD’S WAYS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Study and meditate on God’s words daily
Then you will know him more intimately
If you pursue and reflect on his character
You will understand and know him better.
He has given you a book to help you see
If you consult it often, you can stay free
Reflect on God’s goodness, mercy and grace
We need to focus on him each and every day.

When you fall in love with someone, don’t you often think of them? Maybe you visualize how they look and memorize how they are, especially when the loved one isn’t around. We can’t stop thinking of this person. The feelings we have for this person is so exciting. We fail to contain it inside and may spill out and manifest by humming a tune or having smile pasted on our face the whole day.
Do you ever feel the same way when you think of God? God loves us tremendously. He thinks about us every moment. He is concerned for us and whatever interest us. He knows every part of us even when we were being formed in our mothers’ womb. He is always there with us. Do we think and reflect on his ways? Do we love him as he loves us?

PRAYER
Lord, give me the passion to know your ways.
REFLECTION
How intimate are you with the Lord?

SELF-EXAMINATION Poem Devotional

That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup.
-1 Corinthians 11:28 (NLT)
SELF-EXAMINATION
A poem and essay by ILMA
What thoughts and ideas do you have?
Do you ponder on the Lord up above?
Do you reflect how you treat others?
Do you think of the welfare of one another?
Examining yourself guides where you are going
It monitors how much you are progressing
Self-examination helps you spiritually mature
It makes you understand life and endure.

I am a born analytic and sometimes I can go overboard with over-analyzing things. I thank God that he has given me the capacity to monitor how I think and what my motives are on a regular basis.
Socrates said that an unexamined life is not worth living. Lamentations 3:40 says that we must test and examine our ways and must turn back to the Lord. Why is self-examination crucial in our lives especially in our faced paced world? Without introspecting on our lives, we will lose control or have the ability to go on as planned.
The bible tells us that self-examination is crucial in partaking of the body of Christ. Paul stressed to the Corinthians the importance of preparing ourselves to be one with Christ or one with our sisters and brothers. We must be able to watch our own lives so that we are actually following and reflecting Christ in our lives.
PRAYER
Lord, than you for giving me a mind that can process things.
REFLECTION
How often do you examine yourself? What happens when you don’t?
