December 28________________________________________
Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace. – Luke 1:78-79(NLT)
TO THE PATH OF PEACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you constantly beset with discouragement and helplessness?
The mercy of God will bring you light from heaven during weaknesses
He will never allow his people to live in the shadow of death
He wants all things to work out for us; He give us the best.
He guides us to the path of peace, where we can enjoy life
He created us all so we can bask in his mercy and in his light
Are you in pursuit of peace and embracing it regularly?
Don’t compromise your relationship with God, seek it faithfully.

Our world is beset with so much conflict these days. There is war and rumors of it in many places. Children, women and the innocent are suffering because many people allow the spirit of conflict to prevail. Some believers are even choosing a life full of struggles and fights instead of pursuing the path of peace. The enemy has constantly blinded many of us to dismiss the importance of seeking peace at all cost. We allow the devil to make puppets of us all when we don’t chase peace.
PRAYER
Lord, help us to remember to choose peace at all times.
REFLECTION
How can you maintain peace when you are surrounded by conflicts?

PEACE BRINGS HEALTH Poem Devotional

A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.
– Proverbs 14:30(NLT)
PEACE BRINGS HEALTH
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are there troubles lurking in your life?
Is darkness covering God’s light?
Are there some sins you need to confess?
Do you pursue peace that brings good health?
You are compromising your health when you envy
It is like cancer in the bones, this thing called jealousy
Embrace peace like you would your beloved
It will bring you a balanced life that is so sacred.
________________________________________
There are 7.6 million deaths each year worldwide brought about by cancer. Many different types of cancer are caused by various genetic and environmental factors, but there is also, one that is mostly missed out: repressed emotions and unexpressed anger.
Research conducted by the University of Rochester and Harvard School of Public Health found that people who suppress anger have a 70 percent higher risk of dying from cancer. A University of Michigan study found that suppression of anger predicted earlier mortality in men and women.
Ephesians 4:26 tells us to be angry and yet not sin. We should not let the sun go down while we are still angry. So, when we don’t, it gets piled up and repressed. We lose our peace. We compromise our health both physically and spiritually. Discontent and jealousy is also like cancer to the bones. It eats us up.
PRAYER
Lord, show us how to pursue peace at all cost.
REFLECTION
Why do you think lack of peace affects our health?

PROMISE TO PEACE LOVERS Poem Devotional

May 30

Look at those who are honest and good; for a wonderful future awaits those who love peace. But the rebellious will be destroyed; they have no future. -Psalm 37:37-38(NLT)

PROMISE TO PEACE LOVERS

A poem and essay by ILMA

Do you pursue peace with passion?

Peace lovers are given much provision

Their future is bright and wonderful

They have no need to be fearful.

Look at those who are good and honest

They are promised a life that is blessed

The rebellious on the other hand will be demolished

They have no future because they want to stay foolish.

God wants us to have peace at all cost. Romans 12:18 says “Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone”; and Hebrews 12:14 says that we should work at living in peace with everyone. The Lord has clearly instructed all believers to work at chasing peace. It is not a state that is a result of something but we ought to consciously make a decision to pursue it. I didn’t know his word during my younger years so I didn’t make a mindful effort to chase it as the bible says. My past life was infested with so much conflicts and chaos that led to so much pain and adversities.

The bible says that God has a future awaiting the peace seekers and lovers. Unlike the rebels, they will have a future.

PRAYER

Lord, thank you for granting peace to those who seek you.

REFLECTION

How can the pursuit of peace be rewarding?

December 30________________________________________
Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. – Hebrews 12:14(NLT)
LIVE IN PEACE TO SEE THE LORD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Those who are living in peace with everyone
Will eventually see the one and only Son
Work at living a life that is pure and holy
Avoid falling into sin and all kinds of folly
Those who are not holy won’t see the Lord
They will always complain and dwell on faults
Those who seek the Lord and obey
Will not be lost but find their way.

Have you ever been lost looking for a place in a foreign place? It can get frustrating not to know how to navigate around in an area that is new to you. I was lost when I was around 6 years old. My mother and I were shopping and then I realized that she wasn’t beside me. It took probably over 6 hours of walking until I found my way back home. That six hours of confusion left emotional scars in me. I still find myself panicking when I am in strange places. The bible tells us that if we want to see the Lord, we have to work at living in peace with everyone and work at living a holy life. In order for us not to be lost, we must anchor our lives on God’s truth.
PRAYER
Lord, help me whenever I am lost and not abiding in you.
REFLECTION
What stops you from experiencing peace?

PRINCE OF PEACE Poem Devotional

December 21________________________________________
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders and he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. -Isaiah 9:6(NLT)
PRINCE OF PEACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
A child is born to us so we can be free
We will all be saved by the Prince of Peace
He is the epitome of all that is righteous
He is the one who saved us from darkness
He is called Wonderful Counselor for he guides
Whenever we have trials, run to him and confide
He is the Mighty God who has power on everything
He alone has dominion and rules over all things.
________________________________________
There are many rulers and kings on earth but there is only one Prince of Peace. For so many years the enemy has ruled my heart and mind because of so many generational sins handed down to me. Satan kept me in the dark and I was a prisoner of my own needs and ambitions. No wonder peace can never have a place in my heart. Thanks be to God that he has freed me from all the lies that the enemy kept me believing for so many decades of my life.
The bible calls Jesus Christ as the prince of peace. It is only in Christ that we can find joy, peace, good counsel and ¬¬protection from the enemy.
PRAYER
Thank you for being my prince in shining armor Lord.
REFLECTION
What do you do when you lose peace?

SOURCE OF HOPE, JOY AND PEACE Poem Devotional

winter 2013 landscapes 013

December 10________________________________________
I pray that God, the source of hope will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13(NLT)
SOURCE OF HOPE, JOY AND PEACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
What is weighing you down in life these days?
Is it the suffering and trials that bother you today?
What stops you from experiencing peace?
What is distracting you which doesn’t allow you to see?
The only source of hope is to seek God’s truth in the word
Why are you believing the lies propagated by this world?
Trust in the Lord and in the power of the Almighty
Then you will have hope, joy and tranquility.
________________________________________
When we are bombarded with so much distractions and desires, we will have difficulty navigating through life in peace. I didn’t have peace for many years in my life because I was a very needy person. I gauge my happiness in my achievements, circumstances and in the knowledge that other people loves me truly. Because of these human cravings, it took me a while to experience joy. When I depended much on the results of my hard work, my thirst for human love and approval was insatiable. No wonder, I felt very hopeless as well. The bible tells us that the only source of hope, joy and peace is God.
PRAYER
Lord, let me always run to your throne and follow you.
REFLECTION
What things distract you from experiencing God’s love, peace and joy?

Fools are destroyed by their own complacency. But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm. – Proverbs 1:32-33 (NLT)
OVERCOMING FEAR THROUGH PEACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
What hinders you from embracing peace?
What burdens do you need to release?
Peace comes from knowing God and his truth
It is a result of God’s love and is the Holy Spirit’s fruit.
Fools are destroyed by their own complacency
They have no qualms on taking anything selfishly
Listen to God’s word and he will cover you with peace
Fear has no place in the unconditional love that God gives.
________________________________________
What are you afraid of? Every person is usually afraid of something. Fear is defined as usually a result of an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. It stems from an experience that gets stuck in our senses or memory. I had so much fear of many things for over five decades of my life because of traumatic experiences. I did everything I could to overcome them, but I was only able to get triumph over such fears when I allowed God’s word to heal all the lies embedded in those traumas. The bible says that if we listen to God’s voice, we will experience peace and overcome fear.
PRAYER
Lord, reveal to me the origin of my fears.
REFLECTION
How can obedience to God’s word free us from fears?

PEACEFUL HEART EQUALS HEALTHY BODY Poem Devotional

canadablooms 118 (2)

April 7
A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.
– Proverbs 14:30 (NLT)
PEACEFUL HEART EQUALS HEALTHY BODY
A poem and essay by ILMA
What is in your heart today?
Is it full of angst or does it pray?
Are you letting God into your life?
Do you seek peace ever so tight?
A peaceful heart brings a fit body
Jealousy is poisonous and unhealthy
Seek peace with all your heart and mind
It will bring you victory and God’s insight.
Jealousy is defined as a strong feeling of possessiveness, often caused by the possibility that something which belongs or ought to belong to one is about to be taken away. I once knew someone who was a very jealous person. It was very stressful to be with jealous people. They are insecure and very cunning. I didn’t know she was very envious of all the things I have until she stirred trouble between me and another common friend. It ruined the relationship between the three of us.
Later on, she was diagnosed with diabetes. She was enslaved by her religiosity.
The bible says that a peaceful heart leads to a healthy body and jealousy is like cancer in the bones. All believers must actively choose peace over any worry or anxiety in life. Peace protects our hearts from being corrupted by all human desires which bring discontent and jealousy.
PRAYER
Lord, deliver me from envy and jealousy.
REFLECTION
How is jealousy is like cancer in the bones?

LIVE IN PEACE & THANKSGIVING Poem Devotional

monocliffhike 052

November 19                                                            The Power of God’s Word
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
– Colossians 3:15 (NLT)
LIVE IN PEACE & THANKSGIVING
A poem and essay by ILMA
Is your life an act of thanksgiving and praise to God?
Do you acknowledge the giver of life and give him applaud?
Do you choose to live in peace and harmony?
Have you given up resentments in order to embrace unity?
Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts
For it keeps you close to Him and you will never be apart
All believers are called to live in peace and gratitude
Give up your sinful nature and let God change your attitude!
The word “peace” in English conjures up a passive picture, one showing an absence of civil disturbance or hostilities, or a personality free from internal and external strife. The biblical concept of peace is larger than that and rests heavily on the Hebrew root slm, which means “to be complete” or “to be sound.” The verb conveys both a dynamic and a static meaning” to be complete or whole” or “to live well.”
The bible tells us that peace comes from Christ and that we should let it rule our hearts. As Christians, we are called to live and embrace peace and always be thankful.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to choose peace always.
REFLECTION
How can you be thankful to God daily?
