PSALM 6 THE LORD HEARD THE SOUND OF MY WEEPING

PSALM 6 THE LORD HEARD THE SOUND OF MY WEEPING
O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing;
heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled.
3 My soul also is greatly troubled. But you, O LORD—how long?
4 Turn, O LORD, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love.
5 For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise?
6 I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears;
I drench my couch with my weeping.
7 My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows weak because of all my foes.
8 Depart from me, all you workers of evil,
for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.
9 The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled;
they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment. -Psalm 6:1-10

A poem inspired by this psalm by ILMA
O my Lord, I cry out to you and plead you to hear my prayer
Please, grant me grace for I am hurting so much from this torture
Heal me O Lord for my soul is distressed and troubled
I am so tired from the enemy’s pulling me down to the rubble
Often, I cry myself in bed; it’s too painful to watch violence
The world is full of people who don’t care for others but themselves.
I know you are steadfast in your love and your mercy abounds
Please hear the sound of my weeping and wrap your arms on me
Let the unrighteous and wicked people leave me alone
My Lord, please accept my prayer for deliverance and wisdom
Grant me peace and strength so I can endure for your sake
Let me never forget that all your elect will have to go through trials.

REFLECTION
• Do you think it’s alright to weep to God? Why do some people think that it isn’t appropriate to do so?
• Why did David sound so depressed in this psalm?
• What is the spiritual antidote for anxiety and depression according to the bible?

HELP US LORD!
A poem and essay by ILMA
When I am sad, lonely and feeling beaten
Will you help me Lord, so I can be strengthened?
In times of my deepest need for comfort and reassurance
Will you be there to grant me mercy and patience?
You have delivered me many times from many afflictions
Will you listed to my cries for help in all my tribulations?
I am filled with awe by your amazing works and power
Will you lift up my spirit, so I can let the enemy cower?

Many people fear the word “pray.” They have no idea that when they acknowledge God in their weaknesses and trials and use the word “help me!”, they are actually intimately praying. Praying is an act of humility that acknowledges the presence of God and that you need him. How often do you say “Help me, Lord?” If you have never asked help from anyone or from God, you are in serious trouble.
The bible says that we only need to say the magic words, “Help me, Lord.” He wants us to acknowledge our need for his forgiveness, blessings, grace and mercy. When was the last time you asked God for help?
PRAYER
Lord, show me how to ask help from you always.
REFLECTION
Why do you think it is hard for some people to ask help from God?

But in my distress I cried out to the Lord: yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears. -Psalm 18:6(NLT)
CRY OUT TO GOD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Whenever you have difficulties and pain
Do you cry out to God and call his name?
In your distress, run to Jesus Christ
He is the only one who can ease your life.
He hears you from his sanctuary
Only in him will we have victory
Don’t despair for he will never forsake you
He loves you so much; he is faithful and true.

To cry is defined by the dictionary as “to produce tears from your eyes often while making loud sounds because of pain, sorrow, or other strong emotions.” In the biblical perspective, crying out to God is a fervent expression of faith in God and trust in His goodness and power to act on your behalf. Crying out to God expresses dependence on him, humility, surrender and total helplessness. As opposed to the world’s view that crying is a form of weakness, the bible summons us to cry out to God for help. King David often cried out to God for help.
We are encouraged and instructed in the bible to run to God and ask him for help. Whenever we cry out to him, we acknowledge our weakness and his power.
PRAYER
Lord, I cry out for you to save my family.
REFLECTION
What benefit do we get when we cry out to God for help?

A PLEA FOR ANSWERS Poem Devotional

June 2 The Power of God’s Word
Answer my prayers, O Lord, for your unfailing love is wonderful. Take care of me for your mercy is plentiful– Psalm 69:16 (NLT)

A poem and essay by ILMA
Lord, where are you when I am in need?
How long will my heart bleed?
I am surrounded by people who don’t show affection
How long will you heal them from their deep affliction?
Oh, how I long to be heard and be seen
Why do unbelievers reject love and chose sin?
Please renew my mind and cease my exhaustion?
Will you show me mercy in all my tribulations?
Have you ever prayed for a long time for someone or something to happen and yet see no answers to your incessant requests? The hardest thing to visually see is the change of heart of people. Only God can see someone’s heart and intentions. We will never be able to know or sense if someone’s heart and mind is being renewed by God. Their actions or circumstances may give us a clue as to what God has done to them. We can never really see or know what is in their hearts.
The bible tells us that God’s love is unfailing and that he takes care of us because he is full of mercy. He lavishes us with mercy and grace always.
PRAYER
Lord, give me wisdom to know when you have answered my prayers.
REFLECTION
Why is it important to never lose hope?
