Mockers hate to be corrected so they stay away from the wise.
-Proverbs 15:12 (NLT)
THOSE WHO HATE CORRECTION
A poem and essay by ILMA
Pride is the source of those who hate correction
They don’t care about others and want isolation
They stay away from those who are wise
Mockers hate any evaluation or advice.
Scoffers do whatever they please which leads to ruin
They have no respect for others and wallow in sin
When you encounter them, be wise and stay away
All they are up to is to boast their own way.

I used to know someone who hated correction. All he wanted to do is to tell everyone his own opinion. He never seeks advice, he just gives them and bullies others to do what he thinks should be done. He manipulates anyone who trusted him. He never wants to be told what to do but wants to be control everyone he had relations with.
The clear sign of a wise person is one who seeks advice and listens to others. The bible talks much about wisdom in the book of Proverbs. There are many chapters in this book that stresses the importance of embracing wisdom and warns us of the consequences that fools face.
We are warned to stay away from mockers in Proverbs. We are clearly given the signs of scoffers. One of them is that they never want to be corrected.
PRAYER
Lord, please let me accept your convictions.
REFLECTION
How can you protect yourself from scoffers?

HOPE FOR THE WEAK Poem Devotional

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. – Isaiah 40:29(NLT)
HOPE FOR THE WEAK
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you hurting from a big challenge?
Is there any circumstance you wish changed?
The Lord gives you strength in difficulties
He brings hope to the weak in their frailties.
The powerless need not be hopeless
God can calm the troubled and restless
Even if you don’t see change or movement
He is surely working for your improvement.

Are you overwhelmed with the many roles you play and the many challenges life brings?
God is always there for you. He guides you and protects you even if you don’t think so. I used to be a very impatient and a decisive person. I always troubleshoot when things are not working the way I want it. I learned to surrender to God the hard way. God had to strip me of all my self-sufficiency so I can learn to rely and be God-dependent instead. I was angry for a number of years as I watch all the things I used to be good at faded away. I felt helpless not to have control over them. I used to live by the world’s standard of “power.” I thought that power comes from intelligence and self-will. The bible says that we are stronger in weakness because God shows his power when we are weak and helpless.
PRAYER
Lord, give me strength.
REFLECTION
Why does God love the weak and powerless?

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid for you are close beside me, your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. – Psalm 23:4 (NLT)
FEAR NOT
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you go through the darkest valley
Fear not for God will be with you totally
He is close beside you when you’re in pain
Believe and your hope will not be in vain.
When you feel overwhelmed with sorrow
Don’t worry for there is always a tomorrow
Fear not for he will protect and comfort you
He came to save you and get you through.

Are you struggling with something in your life? Are you feeling sad and burdened right now? Don’t be afraid. You are not alone. There may be others who are going through the same things you are experiencing, maybe worse than where you are right now. When you start to get overwhelmed, look around you or talk to someone and you will be surprised that you are probably much in a better place than someone else. Count your blessings instead of focusing on what you don’t have.
The bible tells us that even when we walk through the darkest valley, we shouldn’t be afraid for God will always be there to protect and comfort us.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to focus on your love, power and protection.
REFLECTION
How can you overcome fear when you are overwhelmed with life’s challenges?

A SLAVE OF CHRIST Poem devotional

________________________________________
And remember, if you were a slave when the Lord called you, you are now free in the Lord. And if you were free when the Lord called you; you are now a slave of Christ.
-1 Corinthians 7:22 (NLT)
A SLAVE OF CHRIST
A poem and essay by ILMA
Would you consider yourself free indeed?
Is there anything or anyone that bonds you to sin?
Do you remember when Jesus called you?
He wants you to be born again and renewed.
Is there is anything that keeps you out of the light?
Let the Son of God be the only master in your life
Be honored that you are a slave of Christ
It will transform you and will bring insight.

There are many people living in bondage. Some of them don’t even know they are enslaved. What does a modern day slave look like? It may have been many decades ago when slavery was very real in our world. What people do not realize is that slavery still exists. It may not be very visible, but may be very subtly manifested. Any kind of addiction such as alcohol, smoking, sex, workaholic, gambling, love of money or idolizing something or someone is surely a form of slavery. The bible says that when you are born again, you are now a slave of Christ who is all loving and all forgiving. You are free from slavery to sin.
PRAYER
Lord, show me how to be a dedicated servant of yours.
REFLECTION
What form of bondage are you still enslaved to?

CONTROLLING ANGER Poem Devotional

halloween 2011 and sunrises 129

February 6
Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. – Psalm 4:4 (NLT)
CONTROLLING ANGER
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you able to manage anger when it comes?
It can manifest as irritability or reacting to someone
Anger can consume you if you let it
It can destroy relationships in a swift.
Think about it overnight and remain silent
Be still and dwell on good things and be patient
When you bridle your tongue, you are in control
When you meditate in God’s word, you won’t fall.
Anger is a powerful emotion. God also created anger, so he must have a reason for making it. Ephesians 4:26-27 says “Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger and do not give the devil an opportunity.” This is called righteous or godly anger. When we have children, we get angry with what they do that can hurt them because we love them. God is the same with us. When Jesus tossed all the tables of the vendors in the temple, he was angry that they are desecrating the house of the Lord.
The bible says that we shouldn’t allow anger to control us. One way to have it under control is by reflecting on it overnight and being silent. When you are still, anger dissipates.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to control anger.
REFLECTION
How can “stillness” overpower anger?

RETURN TO GOD!

pinery camping 2014 and others 012

January 15
If you return to me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve me. If you speak good words rather than worthless ones, you will be my spokesman. You must influence them, do not let them influence you. – Jeremiah 15:19 (NLT)
RETURN TO GOD!
A poem and essay by ILMA
Have you drifted away from the Almighty God?
Obey and seek his word; it makes him glad
If you return to him, he will restore you
If you speak his word, he will make you new.
Do not be influenced by the world’s corruption
Seek his Word, follow it, and he will bring revelations
If you use Scriptures, you will be transformed
Speak God’s truth for it is your weapon; your sword.
Some people have turned their backs on God when they can’t see or fathom his truth. Even Jesus’ very own disciple, Thomas, doubted that Christ rose from the dead. Thomas needed a proof to believe that Jesus came back and fulfilled Scriptures. In response to Thomas’ doubt, Jesus said in John 20:29 “Blessed are those who believe even if they don’t see.”
The bible tells us that if we return to God, he will restore us. If we speak good words instead of worthless ones, we will be God’s mouthpiece or spokesman. He promised authority to those who use his word and victory to influence others when we abide in him.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for your faithfulness.
REFLECTION
What part of your life needs restoration?

WARNING ABOUT ANTICHRISTS Poem devotional

rbg 032

July 4                                                                                      The Power of God’s Word

Many deceivers have gone out into the world. They deny that Jesus Christ came in a real body. Such a person is a deceiver and an antichrist. Don’t invite that person into your home or give any kind of encouragement. Anyone who encourages such people becomes a partner in their evil work.– 2 John:7,11 (NLT)

WARNING ABOUT ANTICHRISTS

A poem and essay by ILMA

There are many false prophets and deceivers

Be careful especially those who are unbelievers

If they deny that Christ came into this world

Study God’s word for it is your sword.

Have nothing to do with the antichrists

This is the only way you can fight

Do not participate in their evil work

Never let them in your home or engage in talks.

Believers have been warned about the antichrists. One of the tactics of Satan is to let Christians think that there is only one antichrist. In the book of Daniel, vision and revelations about the different and various antichrists have been revealed to him.

The bible tells us that there will come a time that there will be many deceivers, but the true sign of an antichrist is when they deny the truth that Jesus Christ was born of a man and that he died on the cross.  Don’t engage or listen to their destructive evil plans.

PRAYER

Lord, keep me close to you and study your word constantly.

REFLECTION

How can a believer be protected from antichrists’ tactics?
