MICAH’S PROPHECY OF THE FUTURE REIGN
A poem by ILMA
In the last days, the mountain of the LORD’s house will reign
It will be the highest of all— the most important place on earth
It will be raised above the other hills, and all will stream there to worship
People from all nations will say “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the LORD
Let’s go to the house of Jacob’s God, There, he will teach us his ways,
The LORD’s teaching will go out from Zion and his word will go out from Jerusalem.
The LORD will mediate between peoples and settle fights between strong nations
They will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks
Nation will no longer fight against nation, nor train for war anymore
Everyone will live in peace and prosperity, enjoying their own grapevines and fig trees,
There will be nothing to fear for the LORD of Heaven’s Armies has made this promise!
Though the nations around us follow their idols, we will follow God forever and ever.

MEMORY VERSE
Everyone will live in peace and prosperity, enjoying their own grapevines and fig trees,
for there will be nothing to fear. The LORD of Heaven’s Armies has made this promise!
– Micah 4:4
Read: Micah 4:1-5
Micah’s prophecy is a promise that the people of God need to look up to. It is important to focus on God’s promises especially when we are going through a lot of trials and challenges in our lives. What is interesting in this prophecy is how God mediates between people of God and the strong enemies from different nations. But the promise of peace and prosperity and the absence of fear are the most hopeful of all the future prophecies.

REFLECTION
• Why should believers make God the main focus of their lives? What happens when they don’t?
• Why is important for us to give up any idols that will compromise our relationship with God?

GIFTS OF TONGUES AND PROPHECY
A poem by ILMA
Let love be your highest goal also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives
Desire specially the ability to prophesy because it benefits the entire church
For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God People won’t understand you for you’ll be speaking by the Spirit’s power.
One who prophesies strengthens, encourages, and comforts others
A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally
But one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church
For prophecy is greater than speaking in tongues.
Unless someone interprets what you are saying when you speak in tongues,
Only you and the Spirit understand, the whole church won’t be strengthened
If someone speaks in an unknown language, how would that help you?
But a revelation, special knowledge, prophecy or teaching, will be helpful.
Even lifeless instruments must play the notes clearly for melody to be recognized
It’s the same for you; if you speak to people in words that they don’t understand
How will they know what you are saying?
You might as well be talking into empty space.

MEMORY VERSE
I wish you could all speak in tongues, but even more I wish you could all prophesy. For prophecy is greater than speaking in tongues, unless someone interprets what you are saying so that the whole church will be strengthened. – 1 Corinthians 14:5
Read: 1 Corinthians 14:1-9
God’s Spirit gives us many different gifts, among them are the gifts of speaking in tongues and prophecy. Paul urges the Corinthians in this chapter to allow these gifts in the church. He stresses the importance of prophesying for it benefits and strengthens the church.

REFLECTION
• Why do you think prophesying is better than speaking in tongues?
• Do you speak in tongues in public? Why do you think some people don’t exercise this gift of the Holy Spirit?

But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them. – 1 Corinthians 14:3 (NLT)
PROPHESYING
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you allow God’s Spirit to prophesy through you
You are strengthening others when you do
The gift of prophecy is given by the Holy Spirit alone
You are given this gift so sin cannot be condoned.
The gifts of the Spirit are given to strengthen others
They must be released to your sisters and brothers
It helps other believers to be comforted and encouraged
It releases captives and the oppressed from bondage.
Are you someone who has a drive to apply the word of God to a situation so that sin is exposed and relationships are restored? Do you easily discern true motives of people? Do you consider compromise as unacceptable? Do you call attention to sin and wrong attitudes? Are you passionate about exposing sin so that truth can be revealed and fellowship with God can be restored? If you answer yes to any of these questions, you may be given the gift of prophecy. The apostle Paul speaks of the variety of spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11. At the moment of salvation, a believer receives one of seven motivational gifts: prophecy, serving, teaching, exhorting, giving, organizing or mercy. The bible says that prophets strengthens others, encourages them and comforts them. Are you able to identify with this gift?
PRAYER
Lord, show me what my spiritual gift is.
