PSALM 108
7 God has promised in his holiness:
“With exultation I will divide up Shechem
and portion out the Valley of Succoth.
8 Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine;
Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter.
9 Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe;
over Philistia I shout in triumph.”
10 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
11 Have you not rejected us, O God?
You do not go out, O God, with our armies.
12 Oh grant us help against the foe,
for vain is the salvation of man!
13 With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes. – Psalm 108:7-13

PSALM 108 WITH GOD WE CAN TREAD DOWN OUR FOES
A poem inspired by this psalm by ILMA
It is God who decides what to do with each one of us
He can divide peoples and nations for his own plans
You need not fear when you are overcome by foes
Be wise and do not rely on humans to save you
Only with God can we crush our enemies
He is in control and have power to defeat them
When troubles come and you feel anxious or distressed
Run to the throne of God, and he will give you rest
Never rely on your own strength or you will fail
Only the Lord can save you; trust him and be faithful.

REFLECTION
• Why do you think it is easy to rely on ourselves and other humans instead of giving full dependence on God?
