PSALM 4 THE LORD ALONE MAKE ME DWELL IN SAFETY
Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have given me relief when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
2 O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame?
How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah
3 But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself;
the LORD hears when I call to him.4 Be angry, and do not sin;
ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah
5 Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD.
6 There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!”
7 You have put more joy in my heart
than they have when their grain and wine abound.
8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. – Psalm 4:1-8

A poem inspired by this psalm by ILMA
When I feel down and threatened, I run to the Lord for rescue
He is faithful to relieve me of worries; he gets my mind renewed
O Lord, help me to seek your word daily and not believe in lies
So much in the world system corrupts our hearts and lives
Help me when I am angry to not sin, but acknowledge the cause
Keep my tongue from speaking lies; instead, let your word flow
Put a rend on my mind and heart so my lips speak only the truth
Let me be used by you as a vessel to bring your kingdom to come
You alone, O Lord make me dwell in safety; you are my Savior
It is only from You that I will experience contentment and joy
In Christ alone can I lie down and sleep and rest knowing his love
The world can never give me such care because its system is corrupt
O men, go and pay homage and praise to a gracious and generous God
He alone can satisfy and give you peace and joy in this fallen world.

REFLECTION
• Why should we only trust the Lord when it comes to satisfying our needs?
