PSALM 146 PUT NOT YOUR TRUST IN PRINCES
Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, O my soul! 2 I will praise the LORD as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
3 Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
4 When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.
5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,
6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever;
7 who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD sets the prisoners free; 8 the LORD opens the eyes of the blind.
The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous.
9 The LORD watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.10 The LORD will reign forever,
your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD! – Psalm 146:1-10

PUT YOUR TRUST ALONE IN THE LORD by ILMA
To the Lord, who made heaven and earth, be glory and praise!
He alone is the only One we need to trust for he is full of grace
It is futile to trust man, who has no power like our Lord God
Humans do not know all things and doesn’t see things from up above
He is the one who brings justice to the weak and the oppressed
He watches over the sojourners, widows and fatherless
The Lord ensures that the poor and weak are cared for
He encourages those who are depressed and discouraged
He sets prisoners free and opens the eyes of the blind
He takes care of all his creation and He brings life and light
Blessings will be poured to those who put their trust in the Lord
Destruction awaits those who trust and follow the world
Give praise to the only source of protection and freedom
Put him first in all that you do so you can abound in wisdom
The Lord will rule eternally; he is the beginning and the end
He is full of majesty, steadfast love, compassion and grace.

REFLECTION
• Why does the psalmist caution us not to put our faith in human authority or power?
• How can one develop a habit of trusting God and letting go of self-reliance?
