Repent and Be Transformed poem devotional

November 18________________________________________
Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing. – Matthew 3:8-9 (NLT)
REPENT & BE TRANSFORMED
A poem and essay by ILMA
How long have you been a believer?
Have fruits manifested in your life as a Christian?
Prove by the way you live that you have repented
Only when you turn to God will you be rehabilitated.
Don’t think that you can continue with your old ways
When you believed, God will bring about change
Repent and be transformed by his mercy and grace
Without repentance, redemption will be in vain.

Some Christians think that when they believed in Jesus Christ, they are automatically saved. That may be partly true. When they become born again, their lives should manifest the new creation that God had promised all those who love him. Are there some Christians who may not enter God’s kingdom? Being a believer poses some responsibilities. The bible says in Ephesians 5:11 that we should not take part in any evil and darkness. So, if one claims they are a Christian and still continue to live in sin and not turn to God, would you consider that person really saved? Can you say that one is a believer and yet do not totally seek the Lord and heed to his will?

PRAYER
Lord, help me to manifest in my life the new creation you made me to be.
REFLECTION
What are the manifestations of a true believer of Jesus?

CONSEQUENCE OF UNREPENTANCE Poem Devotional

November 5________________________________________
If a person does not repent, God will sharpen his sword. He will prepare his deadly weapons and shoot his flaming arrows. -Psalm 7:12-13(NLT)
CONSEQUENCE OF UNREPENTANCE
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you are convicted with sin
Do you admit or ask God to forgive?
Confess your sin to him and repent
The consequence of unrepentance is big.
Any form of sin angers the Lord
It defies him and doesn’t bring him laud
Are you ready to suffer as a result of rebellion?
If you don’t repent, you will end up in oblivion.

When the psalmist talks about God sharpening his sword and shooting his flaming arrows at the unrepentant person in this verse in Psalm 7, I shivered. I couldn’t imagine God can hurt anyone. Then I suddenly remembered verses like God created us in his image. It also brought me back to that verse in James 4:4 which says “You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Now it is starting to make sense that God hates sin and the corruption of this world. He considers loyalty to the world as an act against him. They become an enemy. It is only therefore justified if God takes a weapon to shoot back at those who betrayed him. The consequence of unrepentance is high.

PRAYER
Lord, please grant me a repentant heart at all times.
REFLECTION
What would you do to someone who betrays you and considers you an enemy?

GOD ISN’T SLOW, JUST PATIENT Poem Devotional

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He doesn’t want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. -2 Peter 3:9 (NLT)
GOD ISN’T SLOW, JUST PATIENT
A poem and essay by ILMA
Have you been waiting for so long to get results?
Do you think God is slow to grant and solve?
How much faith do you really have?
Do you rely on his wisdom from above?
God isn’t slow, he is just patient
He wants you to be persistent
He protects you from falling
He wants you to win instead of failing.

How many of your prayers and requests have been answered? Don’t we all get impatient when we don’t get the expected answers we want to see? For all you know, he has already answered your prayer. You just don’t see it because you are so focused on your own idea of the results. There was a time that I kept praying for a job and a career that I will be able to use all of my skills. I applied to over 3,000 job positions, only to be turned down. Sometimes I would almost make it to two interviews and then still not get hired. What I didn’t realize was God was directing me to be a writer for him. He wasn’t slow, he was patient and wanted me to work for him.
PRAYER
Lord, let me see with your eyes.
REFLECTION
Why do we sometimes miss God’s answers to our prayers?

RELEASED FROM DEATH Poem Devotional

July 7________________________________________
But God released him from the horrors of death and raised him back to life, for death could not keep him in its grip. –Acts 2:24(NLT)
RELEASED FROM DEATH
A poem and essay by ILMA
What forms of death are you going through?
Does your heart needs to be renewed?
Living in sin can bring death in your life
Only in Jesus Christ can you have light
God released his Son from the horrors of death
He will also deliver you and ransom you from debts
God will keep his promise to free you from bondage
Repent and confess your sins and bring him homage.

So many people fear the horrors of death. Some individuals do not even discuss the subject of death because they are afraid to even think about it. I was a fearless child. When my parents attend funerals, they can’t even look at the coffin of the deceased because of so many superstitious beliefs. As young as four or five, I remember asking some of my relatives to carry me so I can look at the dead body. Deep inside me, I wanted to pray for these people and feel happy that they are with God already. I secretly wished I follow soon too so I can see Jesus.
The bible says that God released Jesus from the horrors of death and raised him back to life. Death had no grip on anyone who belongs to him.
PRAYER
Lord, let me be brave to face anything for you.
REFLECTION
What forms of death have God released you from?
