PAUL’S REMINDER OF JESUS’ RESURRECTION
A poem by ILMA
Let me now remind you of the Good News I preached to you before
You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm and trust the Lord
It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message
I passed on to you what’s been passed on to me and what’s most important.
Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures spoke about
He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day
He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve apostles
After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers.
Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles
Lastly, as though I’d been born at the wrong time, I also saw him
For I am the least of all those who followed him and called
I’m not even worthy to be called an apostle after I persecuted God’s church.
But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his favor on me
And not without results, for I have worked harder than any of the others
Yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace
So, it makes no difference who preaches, the message is the same.

MEMORY VERSE
But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me.
– 1 Corinthians 15:10
Read: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11
It is easy to forget the importance of focusing on the resurrection of Jesus. It was what saved us all and reminds us of the undeserved favor He gave us all. Whenever we go through stages of spiritual dying in our lives, we must focus on the Risen Christ who can raise us from whatever circumstances we go through.

REFLECTION
• How can you remind yourself constantly of what the resurrection means?

PETER PREACHES PROPHECY OF THE MESSIAH
A poem by ILMA
When some people ridiculed all the believers who were speaking in tongues
Peter stepped forward clarified they weren’t drunk but explained prophecy
He told the people that God will pour his Spirit upon all people
Sons and daughters will prophesy, young men will have visions.
The Spirit will also be poured on servants – men and women alike
Peter continues to preach the prophet Joel’s prophecy
The Spirit will cause wonders in the heaven’s above
Signs on the earth below-blood and fire and clouds of smoke.
The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red
Before the day of the Lord arrives, all who calls on him will be saved
Peter preached the Israelites, “God endorses Jesus to do miracles
He also knew what would happen and the plan was to be carried out.
God released Jesus from the horrors of death and raised him from it
King David said this about him “He is always with me and will not be shaken
Peter told the people that David wasn’t talking about himself but the Messiah
God raised Jesus from the dead, and all of us, are all witnesses to this.

MEMORY VERSE
David was looking into the future and speaking of the Messiah’s resurrection. He was saying that God would not leave him among the dead or allow his body to rot in the grave. – Acts 2:31
Read: Acts 2
Peter told the believers about David’s prophecy of the Messiah’s resurrection. What a brilliant explanation he gave to the people and how they were all witnesses to the great plan of the Lord to save all of us from sin.

• Why is the resurrection of Jesus the main focus that every believer should reflect on?

RESURRECTION AND LIFE
A poem and essay by ILMA
When Christ came to save mankind
He expected us to be free and not be blind
Anyone who believes in him will never die
Even after physical death, they will still thrive.
We are not just physical but also spiritual beings
Come to Christ and you will live even after dying
The Son of God is the resurrection and the life
Believe in him for you will have eternity and insight.

A lot of people are scared of death. Death in a family brings grief to the left kin and relatives. Are you scared of dying? I have never been scared of death even as a young child. When other people ask me about death, I would always answer this: “They finally will see Jesus and have no more problems.” I saw death as life. Maybe it was because I had a relationship with Jesus as young as a seven year old girl. I am sure now that it was the Holy Spirit whispering to me in my heart that death is the end of the worldly life and the beginning of the spiritual life.
The bible tells us that Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in him will live even after dying. What an awesome promise to look forward to!
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for dying for me.
REFLECTION
Why should you not fear physical death especially if you are a believer?

THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you feel defeated and exhausted from life’s challenges?
Do you keep on sinning despite wanting to change?
If you do it in your own strength, you will be defeated
If you allow Christ’s power, you will be resurrected.
Christ is the resurrection and the life
If you believe in him, you will have light
Death has no power over Christ
Only in him will you be right.

Resurrection is the condition of being restored to life. There are many forms of death in our lives. Most people think of physical death when resurrection is mentioned. There is another form of death that may currently affect us even while we are still alive. This is spiritual death. The bible talks about sin as the cause of spiritual death. When we sin, we are not living life as God wants us to live. We live in darkness and confusion when we continually defy God’s commands. God made us all in his image and he has no sin, so if we decide to disobey him and go our own way, we are separating ourselves from God who is life himself. When “un-forgiveness” resides in our hearts, love is absent. When love is absent, God isn’t present because he is love.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for dying for my sins.
REFLECTION
What sins have God resurrected you from?
