THE REWARD OF FINISHING
April 22________________________________________
Finishing is better than starting. Patience is better than pride. -Ecclesiastes 7:8(NLT)
THE REWARD OF FINISHING
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you bring a concept to reality, you are beginning something
It takes courage and inspiration to present your ideas into being
You will need diligence and perseverance to continue working
It may present some challenges and bumps but keep on grinding.
Bringing the plan into reality and finishing it will reap rewards
It will teach you patience and endurance like you never had
Finishing is better than starting and patience is better than pride
Let the Lord be in all your endeavors and never put him aside.

How many people start a project or something and never really finished it? I began my visual arts career as a painter and photographer over two decades ago. Without any formal training in Fine Arts, I was able to sell over 400 works in my lifetime up to this day. Some masters of Arts like Van Gogh passed away without seeing the rewards of their hard work. If he could only see how much value people have put in his paintings, then he would have been fulfilled as a painter. I thank the Lord that he has blessed me with a prolific art career. The secret ingredient in my art prowess is to paint daily to exercise and to finish what I started each time.

PRAYER
Lord, show me each time the enemy steals my time and ideas to hinder my progress.
REFLECTION
What stops you from starting or finishing a work?

For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete needing nothing. – James 1:3-4(NLT)
ENDURANCE LEADS TO PERFECTION
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you being challenged to press against all odds?
Your strength and patience is being stretched by God
Don’t give up, don’t hinder it while it is progressing
It will make you perfect, complete and needing nothing.
Don’t resist while pressures against you builds up
Press on and continue to focus on God’s only Son
Wait a little longer and you will reap a harvest
Don’t worry, stay faithful and you’ll be blessed.

Back in my early 40’s, I was a member of a cycling club and was the only woman in a group of over fifty members. I needed to practice on my own daily, at least 30 kilometers per day to keep up with the boys. I also had to ensure that I slowly pace myself up to a certain speed so I can catch up with all these strong men during our weekend bike marathons with distance goal of 200 kilometers in a span of 2-3 hours. When we reach that height of the climb, I almost want to give up, but I press on and I did it. The bible encourages us to keep on enduring so we can reach perfection.
PRAYER
Lord, give me strength to endure even when I can’t understand.

What is the most challenging test that God allowed in your life?

The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded I tell you the truth, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat.
-Luke 12:37(NLT)
WHEN SERVANTS ARE REWARDED
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you serve the Lord with all your heart
You will reap rewards that will set you apart
When Christ returns, the servants who are ready
They will reap a harvest when they abide faithfully.
Christ himself will seat them and serve as they eat
They’ll be treated like queens and kings, just like royalty
The promises that God has given will be fulfilled
All their service and humility will be revealed.

In the past, servants were always looked down upon. I watched the “Book of Negroes” on a television mini series and was so moved by how much the black people suffered cruelty from the white people. Slavery was inhuman. One of the slave girls ended up being so strong, wise and saved many of her people in the end by faithfully serving despite injustices.
We still suffer different forms of slavery in our lives. Sometimes they are generational sins or strongholds in our family of origin. We are asked to be constantly ready and be free from sins so that when Christ comes again, we will reap the reward of being served by him. What an awesome promise!
PRAYER
Lord, help me to faithfully serve and be ready when you come back.
REFLECTION
Why is it important to be ready always to do good and serve others?
