MESSAGE ON SALVATION
A poem by ILMA
The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart
And that message is the very message about faith that we preach
Declare that Jesus is Lord and believe his resurrection and you’ll be saved
For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God.
As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will not be disgraced”
Jew and Gentile[ are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord
God generously lavishes all those who to all call on him
For everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.
But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him?
And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about Christ
And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?
How beautiful are the feet of messengers who brings the Good News!
But not everyone welcomes the Good News with open heart
Faith comes from hearing the Good News about Christ
God’s case to his people is that all day long he opened his arms
But his people were disobedient and continued to be rebellious.

MEMORY VERSE
For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law. – Romans 10:3
Read: Romans 10
In this letter of Paul to the Romans, he pleads them to heed the invitation of God for them to be saved by declaring that Jesus is Lord and by believing that he was resurrected from the dead. This letter reminds us of our responsibility to bring the Good News to everyone so that the message of salvation will spread all over the earth.

• Have you been telling about the message of salvation to all the ends of the earth?

SAVE YOURSELVES Poem Devotional

May 15________________________________________
Save yourselves from this crooked generation! – Acts 2:40(NLT)
SAVE YOURSELVES
A poem and essay by ILMA
We live in a crooked world these days
Do we even follow what the bible says?
Save yourselves from this crooked generation
It is time for you to think of your salvation.
The Lord gave us a map to navigate the corruption
He wants us to strengthen our faith to resist temptations
He warns us to guard our hearts at all times
He commands us to pray for every believer.

According to the Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Science, learned helplessness refers to the maladaptive passivity shown by animals and people following experience with uncontrollable events. The individual learns in one situation that responses and outcomes are independent, represents this learning as an expectation of helplessness, and then generalizes this expectation to other situations in which outcomes objectively can be controlled to produce passivity. An important influence on the degree of helplessness shown by people is how they explain the causes of the original uncontrollable events. Individuals who tend to explain such events with internal (‘it’s me’), stable (‘it’s going to last forever’), and global (‘it’s going to undermine everything’) are said to have a helpless or pessimistic explanatory style.
2 Timothy 1:7 says God did not give us a spirit of timidity or fear, but of power, love and self-discipline. We can save ourselves from this crooked generation by living this promise.

PRAYER
Lord, thank you that we can overcome fear by your power.

ON SAVING YOUR LIFE Poem Devotional

October 20
________________________________________
And if wicked people turn from their wickedness, obey the law, and do what is just and right, they will save their lives. They will live because they thought it over and decided to turn from their sins. Such people will not die. – Ezekiel 18:27-28(NLT)
ON SAVING YOUR LIFE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you dying inside from all the trials in life?
Be hopeful and trust only Jesus Christ
When you intentionally choose to do right
You will be enveloped in the Lord’s light.
If you want to be saved, then turn from evil
It will be a big blow for your enemy, the devil
When you decide to choose a life that is righteous
You become heirs to God’s kingdom that is glorious.
________________________________________
When you face physical danger, what do you do? The body has a built-in automatic emergency response that uses the nervous and endocrine systems to boost the body’s performance when there’s a threat. It’s like an emergency mechanism that the body mobilize to give us “super-strength” when there’s danger. When I was eleven years old, our apartment building almost burned. There was a fire in the market beside our home. My mother was eight months pregnant yet managed to carry a 10 cubic feet refrigerator by herself out of our house.
Do we save our spiritual life just as much as we do our physical bodies? Obedience and trust to God must be your response to spiritual danger.

PRAYER
Lord, deliver me from evil.

How can you equip yourself to defeat threats in your spirit?

GOD’S PATIENCE Poem Devotional

And remember, the Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. -2Peter 3:15(NLT)
GOD’S PATIENCE
A poem and essay by ILMA
The Lord is patient with his people
He gives them time to overcome evil
Whenever you lose hope in your situation
He will be there to give you solutions.
God’s patience allows us to grow and mature
Don’t dwell in the negative and stay pure
He knows you and gives a way out of sin
Pursue him so you can become more like him.
________________________________________
Have you ever met someone who has all the patience in the world? I was surrounded by impatient people for many years of my life. I learned their impatience and lived it for decades. I seriously believe that the root of impatience is pride and entitlement. People lose their cool when they are ignored or their expectations are not met. It is a way that the enemy lures us with thinking more of ourselves rather than pleasing the Lord and serving others. Nowhere in the bible does it say that we ought to love ourselves first than God and others. In fact, we are summoned to love the Lord with everything we got, and then our neighbors just as we love ourselves. The bible also says in romans 12:3 that we should not think we are better than others. God is patient with us so why can’t we be patient with others as well?

PRAYER
Teach me patience Lord in dealing with others.
REFLECTION
Why do you think people become impatient?

BE STRONG IN THE LORD

port elgin camping 2012 474June 11________________________________________
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.
-Ephesians 6:10-11(NLT)
BE STRONG IN THE LORD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Be on guard and put on all of God’s armor
You need to use it so you can have enough power
Your enemy wants to devour you and have you defeated
You need to be aware of his tactics so you won’t be tempted.
Be strong in the Lord, you need to use your authority
He gave you dominion over the wiles of the enemy
Exercise your supremacy over the ruler of this world
You have to use God’s sword which is in his word.
________________________________________
It is sad to watch many Christians who live defeated lives. God has given us dominion and power over Satan but we never use the armor that he has provided for us. We wake up each morning defenseless when we don’t even start our day connecting to him or declaring a word from God. It is like going to war without any weapon and expect to win a battle. Ephesians 6 tells us how to be battle ready. Truth is our belt, God’s righteousness is the body armor, peace is our shoes, faith is our shield, salvation is our helmet and the word of God is our sword.

PRAYER
Lord, remind me to always wear your full armor each day.

ENDURANCE LEADS TO SALVATION Poem Devotional

barrie-visit-2011-411
May 17________________________________________
But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come. – Matthew 24:13-14(NLT)
ENDURANCE LEADS TO SALVATION
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you encounter much trouble and suffering
Be thankful! Your faith will surely be growing
The one who endures to the end will be protected
Those who easily give up will not be included.
Endurance is a manifestation of being faithful
It also shows that you are diligent and hopeful
Jesus endured all kinds of violence and cruelty
He wants us to embrace challenges courageously.
________________________________________
Endurance is defined as a noun as the fact or power of enduring an unpleasant or difficult process or situation without giving way. As an adjective, it is denoting or relating to a race or other sporting event that takes place over a long distance or otherwise demands great physical stamina. Endurance is an important ingredient in overcoming obstacles or winning a competition. James 1:2-3 tells us that the testing of our faith produces endurance. In other words, if we easily give up at the first trial or testing, we won’t finish the race to God’s kingdom. It is also a pre-requisite in order for us to be saved. When we endure and persevere, we show strength in our character.

PRAYER
Lord, help me to focus on you instead of the circumstance when my faith is being tested.
REFLECTION
How can we develop endurance in our character?

________________________________________
For the grace of God has been revealed bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness and devotion to God. – Titus 2:11-12(NLT)
LIVING IN GRACE AND DEVOTION TO GOD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you acknowledge that without God, you are nothing?
Grace is a gift from God so you don’t have to continue sinning
This undeserved favor is given to you through Jesus Christ
He came so that you can have peace and enjoy life.
In order to embrace salvation, make sure you live in his grace
Follow Jesus’ ways and obey his commands all of your days
You should live in this evil world with wisdom and devotion
Never allow the enemy to succeed in destroying your relations.
________________________________________
I didn’t understand the gift of grace for many years of my Christian life. I was always performing and doing things to earn my salvation. I relied so much on my own strength and understanding. It was hard for me to accept God’s grace.
When God revealed to me about my performing works and asked me to focus on the cross, then I began to accept this undeserved favor. I learned to give up self-reliance and replaced it with God dependence. I started to enjoy devoting my time to him and live in his grace.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to remember to rely on your grace.
REFLECTION
Why do you think people have a hard time accepting and living in God’s grace?

SALVATION FROM THE LORD Poem Devotional

But I will offer sacrifices to you with songs of praise, and I will fulfill all my vows. For my salvation comes from the Lord alone. –Jonah 2:9 (NLT)
SALVATION FROM THE LORD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Who can save anyone from this evil world?
We can only overcome it through God’s word
Offer sacrifices to your God and sing praises
He will save you and fulfill all his promises.
Be faithful to the Lord as he is to you
You will find joy and will be renewed
Salvation comes only from the Lord
Bring him honor and glory and awe.
________________________________________
There were many years of my life that I worked at my own salvation. I didn’t know any better. I was foolish to think that I can perform my way up to my own redemption. I didn’t study the word of God then so I was ignorant of what it takes for salvation to happen. When God revealed to me the depth of his love and the real meaning of the cross and the blood of Jesus, I was astounded. I didn’t know that he already paid the price for all my sins and all I had to do was believe and follow him.
The prayer of Jonah before he was spitted out of the whale was a declaration of God’s power to save mankind. Only in him, can we be saved.
PRAYER
Lord, make me grow in faith.
REFLECTION
What is the condition of your faith?

SALVATION THROUGH GOD’S MERCY Poem Devotional

He saved us not because of the righteous thing we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and a new life through the Holy Spirit. – Titus 3:15(NLT)
SALVATION THROUGH GOD’S MERCY
A poem and essay by ILMA
We can never achieve our own salvation
He washed away our sins through his sanctification
He saved us not because of the righteous things we’ve done
He ransomed our sins through Jesus, his only begotten Son.
We can never boast any works we are doing
His mercy is given freely to those who are trusting
He gave us new birth and new life through his Spirit
We have to be thankful and grateful as we receive it.
I used to work at my own salvation. I didn’t understand “mercy and grace” then. I grew up being taught that performing works for God is the only way I was going to be saved. Just like how I was conditioned to perform well in school to attain my parents’ approval, I also thought that God was the same way with me.
The bible tells us that he saved us not because of the righteous things we do but because of God’s mercy. He washed our sins away and gave us new life through the Holy Spirit who convicts us when we do wrong and correct us so we can be righteous in Christ.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for saving me.
REFLECTION
How can mercy and grace change our thinking?
