Be ready, renew your minds and exercise self-control
Be hopeful and expectant for Jesus’ second coming
Live as obedient children of your heavenly Father
He was holy so he expected you to be holy as well.
Remember that God plays no favorites, he treats you all equally
Live in reverent fear of God since you are just temporary residents
Through Christ you have come to trust in God and was cleansed from sin
So, love each other deeply and sincerely with all your heart.
You’ve been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end
Your new life will last forever because the word of God says
“People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field
The flowers fade but the word of the Lord remains forever.”

MEMORY VERSE
As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever.”

One of the only things that lasts forever in this world is the word of God. Everything else in this world is temporary and changing. We need to be able to get ourselves strong in the word so we can overcome this world. God also wants us to be holy as he is so that we can receive all the promises of God.

FAMINE ON HEARING SCRIPTURES

There will come a time when people won’t hear Scriptures
People will be focused on satisfying their whims and pleasures
We may have all kinds wealth and all of material possessions
Do we seek God’s word, listen and engage in meditations?
There is a famine on being unable to hear God’s word
The prince of darkness has captured much of this world
What are you doing to ensure that Scriptures is heard?
Do you ensure that the Good News is preached?

There is much chaos going on in our world today primarily because many people have turned their backs on the Lord and His word. How far do you think would anyone go without nourishment? They would starve and eventually die. So much poverty is prevalent in many parts or the world. Many children die from malnourishment and sickness. Some people get out in the mission field to help these people and ensure that they are not forgotten.
There is another famine that the prophet Amos was prophesying to us. He saw the vision that people will experience a poverty of hearing the truth that comes from the word of God. Isn’t this currently going on now?

Lord, help me never to be deaf to your word.

If you want to be free from bondage
Use Scriptures so you can be at an advantage
God’s word brings truth and wisdom
It keeps us away from lies and bring freedom.
The apostles used Scriptures to reason with people
They know that the word of God is always useful
Seek it daily and you will have wisdom and understanding
Search the truth from Scriptures, it will keep you growing.

The word of God is alive. It is not like any other philosophy or saying. In fact, many wise sayings originate from the word of God. I was amazed that even before I read the bible, I was given revelations about some truth. I didn’t even know that time that as soon as I accepted Christ in my life, I had the Holy Spirit dwelling inside my heart. It was God’s spirit who led me to truth but when I read Scriptures, all of the wisdom came flowing out of my mind and heart. God is the source of all knowledge. He alone is all-knowing and all-seeing. Scriptures is God-breathed, so it is powerful. It can make people see whatever it is that keeps them in bondage. The word of God can reveal something that no human words can ever do.

When God created the world
He breathed on it and spoke the word
The word brings life when it is uttered
It shines God’s light so bright and alive.
When you seek his true word, you give birth
Things multiply and continue to get big
The truth also brings about joy and freedom
It brings us closer and closer to God’s kingdom.

Before I became born again, I had no idea how powerful the word of God was. I didn’t know that it could set me free. I didn’t even realize that it will bring healing to me in all aspects of my life. I underwent so much traumas and it manifested in my body, mind and spirit. I was sick physically, emotionally and mentally. When I became born again and recommitted my life to Jesus, the first instruction I got was to feed on his word. I didn’t understand it at first. How can it heal me bodily, mentally and emotionally? I thought that it was only something spiritual that it deals with. When I finally obeyed God’s word, it literally exposed the lies that I believed for many years. I became aware of all the sins and the darkness I lived in. After seeking the truth, I was released from darkness.

God equips his people to do good works
Scriptures is a map for us to navigate this world.
When God chose you to be one of his
He will give you all the tools you need
Trust in the Lord so you can spiritually mature
He wants you to have a heart that is pure.

As a high school teacher fifteen years ago, my goal is to make sure that the learning process happens. Teachers were expected to write detailed weekly lesson plans targeting cognitive, affective and psychomotor objectives. Since we all have different learning styles, we were given the responsibility to cater to the different learning styles of students so we can hit the maximum literacy. We have to give our students tools to equip them to do whatever it takes to acquire skills and aptitudes.
The bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16 that God gave us the Scriptures so we can use it to teach us what is true. It makes us realize what is wrong in our lives, corrects us when we do wrong and teaches us to do what’s right. It is the tool that equips us to do every good work.

Lord, I pray that you grant me understanding
Unless you reveal it to me, I won’t know anything
Help me comprehend the meaning of your laws
Convict me when I don’t focus on the cross.
Let me always meditate on your wonderful deeds
Give me wisdom and also provision for my needs
Let me always hear your voice each passing day
Stir my heart so I will learn how to constantly pray.

Do you usually consult God so you will understand something? The Lord gave us the Scriptures so he can use it to guide us, teach us, correct us and tell us what to do. Many decades of my life were spent without reading God’s word. No wonder I led a very tumultuous life. Just like when we are going some new place, we need to have a map or detailed instruction how to go there, or we will be lost. The book of Proverbs puts much emphasis on wisdom. Without it, we will be lost and be led astray or we can even die spiritually. The proverbs of Solomon guide us how important it is to have God’s wisdom.
The word of God shows us the way, so if we meditate on it, we won’t be confused or lost.

Do you seek the word of God each day?
Does the truth bring you to your knees to pray?
We are to preserve God’s teaching
He wants us to live it and keep on following.
Those who heed all of the Lord’s instructions
They will find favor and overcome temptations
Seek and be faithful to follow God’s word
You will find wisdom navigating this world.

Why must we preserve the teaching of God? Because the word of God is alive. It is not just ordinary words. 2 Timothy 3:16 says Scripture is God-breathed and inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
What happens when we do not seek the word? We clearly do not preserve and spread it when we don’t even know the truth that will set us free. The enemy wants to ensure that we won’t pursue God’s teaching. He steals the word so that we won’t maintain a relationship with God. Satan hates relationships, so he destroys it. When we keep the truth alive, we are preserving God’s teaching.

ACCEPT THE WORD

You were saved when you believed in Christ
He gave you his word so you can choose life
So, get rid of all the filth and humbly accept the word
He placed them in your heart so you will win over the world.
What is stopping you from feeding on God’s truth?
Why haven’t you allowed for it to take root?
The word of God has the power to save your soul
It can fill your hearts and mind and make you whole.

It is puzzling to know that there are Christians who have not fully accepted the word of God in their lives. They have no idea what they are missing. One of the benefits on feeding on God’s truth is that you become wise and mature in your walk as a believer. I often wonder when I meet Christians who have been born again many years and yet still act like baby Christians.
The more we study the word of God regularly, the deeper our intimacy with God would be. Sadly, we get side-tracked with the busy lives we live that are superficial and not beneficial for our salvation. Accept the word of God.
