For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God– Romans 8:14(NLT)
CHILDREN OF GOD
A poem and essay by ILMA
How do you know if someone is a child of God?
It is someone spiritual and focus on things above
This person does what the word says and live it
For the Spirit of God speaks to them and they hear it.
The children of God know that they must stay pure
This is why it is hard for the devil to steal and lure
They believe in the power that lives in them and obey
They don’t compromise their integrity and they don’t lie.

There are people who profess their faith and commit to a life with Christ. How do you know if a believer is authentic? There are counterfeit believers who use their claim that they are believers so they can deceive others. The bible warns us of those who are not doers of the word and just hearers in the book of James. We can know the tree by it’s fruit. An apple tree will not bear a banana nor a banana tree will not produce apples. We need to see the proof of faith. If their life does not contradict God’s word or go against his commands, we can be sure that they are children of God. They are led by God’s Spirit and they listen to his .

Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.- Romans 8:12-13(NLT)
PUT TO DEATH THE SINFUL NATURE
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you put to death the sinful nature
You will begin to grow fast and mature
Do not follow your inclination to sin
Let the Spirit control you so you can win.
You’ll be victorious if you listen to the Spirit
He will live in your heart if you allow him
Keep your hearts pure so you’ll feel his presence
Be filled with the Spirit and you will never be bent.

We always have a tendency to follow our nature which likes to satisfy its desires or cravings, thus, we become bent or crooked. We see things in the natural rather than the supernatural. The bible says that we are not just physical but also spirit beings. When we live only in the physical, our spirits suffer. The apostle Paul stresses the importance of putting to death our sinful nature which is in the natural. We need to feed our spirit God’s truth that it needs so that we don’t need to follow our natural instincts alone, but also what the Spirit is saying.

PRAYER
Lord help me to overcome my natural instincts and follow the Spirit.

DON’T BE MISLED
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you believed in Jesus Christ
You must guard your path in life
Make sure that you stay in God’s word
It will guide you to overcome this world.
Jesus warned us not to be misled by evil
Be on watch for the tactics of the devil
Meditate on his truth day and night
It will give you wisdom and great insight.

We live in an age of information and technology. We are bombarded with a lot of data and it becomes challenging to decipher which ones are authentic or not. We have to exercise boundaries in discerning the let the good in and the bad out. It is sad to watch people being victimized by too much deception and lies hovering around them. How can we protect ourselves from these corrupt world? The bible tells us to stay in the word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 says that all Scriptures is God-breathed and is there to guide us, teach us and to correct us when we do wrong and it also gives us a way out of the most adverse situations. What would happen if we don’t know God’s word? We will be easily misled by the enemy and be tossed and turned. We will only know a counterfeit if we are fully aware of the truth.
