GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART
I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart;
Before the gods I sing your praise; 2 I bow down toward your holy temple
And give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,
For you have exalted above all things your name and your word.
3 On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.
4 All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O LORD,
For they have heard the words of your mouth,
5 And they shall sing of the ways of the LORD, for great is the glory of the LORD.
6 For though the LORD is high, he regards the lowly, but the haughty he knows from afar.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life;
You stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
And your right hand delivers me.8 The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me;
Your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of your hands. – Psalm 138:1-8

Giving thanks to the Lord with all our hearts can be very challenging in our busy world today where we live very comfortable lives. This psalm is a reminder to bow down to a faithful God who is always there especially manifested in his name and in his word. Without praising his name and letting the word permeate our lives, we can’t have that grateful attitude that sings praise to him wholeheartedly.

ADORATION: Praise your name forever, my Lord and my God.
CONFESSION: Forgive me whenever I don’t wholeheartedly worship you with all my heart, mind, soul and might.
THANKSGIVING: Thank you for all your unconditional love and provision for all my needs.
SUPPLICATION: May all men recognize the One true God in you, Lord Jesus Christ.

REFLECTION
• Why do you think gratefulness is an act of the heart and not of the mind?
• Can we be grateful without manifesting it in words and action? Will that bless the giver?
• What are you grateful today that God has clearly given you?

Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

OVERFLOW WITH THANKFULNESS
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you acknowledge the source of your life
It will bring you to the foundation which is in Christ
Let your roots grow down into him and build it on him
You will reap an overflow of thankfulness and be redeemed.
Thank the Lord for each and every blessing you receive
You will have a bounty of faith and easily overcome sin
Focus on the groundwork for a meaningful existence
Only in Jesus Christ will you have purpose and substance.

Being thankful to God for every little thing that you have in life is essential for us to have a purposeful life. Many believers get drawn into a worldly existence and forget the source of all things. When we deny that everything comes from the Lord, we live very difficult lives. Remember that God is love and he created us out of love. When we minimize the fact that we won’t have anything without him, we open the doors for the enemy to keep us confused and distract us from God’s love. We should let our roots grow down into Christ and our lives be built on him so we’ll have an overflow of gratitude.
PRAYER
Lord, let me never lose focus on you.
REFLECTION
Why is it essential to acknowledge Christ as our foundation?
