RECEIVE WITH THANKSGIVING
A poem and essay by ILMA
What have you been given lately?
Do you thank the Lord God Almighty?
Don’t turn your back on what God has given
E¬¬specially on his Son who died and was risen.
Receive with thanksgiving and gratitude
It will transform your mind and your attitude
Since all God’s creation is good for his plan
Take it and use it for honoring him and his Son.

Today is Thanksgiving Day and most of us are all busy preparing for the family meals that we celebrate each year. I come from a country where we didn’t celebrate thanksgiving. This is a new tradition for me. A part of me don’t understand why we need to do it only one special day Shouldn’t we thank the Lord each day for the many things he has provided and given us?
Many people do not see miracles in their lives because they are all grumbling about what they don’t have. They want God to give them all their requests even though they have no idea that it may not be good for them after all. The bible tells us that since all things that God made is good, we must not reject any of it but receive it with a thankful heart.

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. – Colossians 3:15(NLT)
LIVE IN PEACE AND THANKFULNESS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Peace can only come by allowing Christ to rule your life
It is a fruit that is given to those who commit to Christ
As members of one body, you are called to live in peace
Be thankful in all things and constantly seek God and heed.
The Lord will provide for all your needs; trust him completely
He will never forsake you, he loves you faithfully
Pursue peace and always have a thankful heart
It will protect you from all evil and let Satan depart.

What do you have to thank for today? It is amazing how many of us forget to give thanks to the Lord for big or little things we receive from him. Do we really praise the Lord for all that we have no matter what it is? It is easy to thank him for something we have wanted to have, but do we also thank him for the trials, the suffering, the losses, the illnesses? We forget to thank him for stretching our patience, having strength, enduring and being resilient to face all our struggles. We are summoned in the bible to pursue peace at all cost and give thanks.

PRAYER
Grant me a thankful heart and attitude Lord.
REFLECTION
How can we really show gratitude to God on a daily basis?

Yes they knew God but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks, And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds become darkened and confused. –Romans 1:21 (NLT)
ANTIDOTE TO CONFUSION AND DARKNESS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are your thoughts lined up with truth?
Have you allowed God’s word to take root?
Do you praise and worship God with your heart?
Do you thank him daily especially when the day starts?
Worship prevents you from the tendency to grumble
A thankful attitude keeps you focused and humble
When you revere God, your minds become clear
You become bold, courageous and never fear.

There are some Christians who take for granted the value of thanksgiving and praising God. The world hates believers who gives time to God and worship him. The enemy will do anything to distract someone who is trying to be intimate with God. The devil steals, kills and destroys anything that will bring glory to God. He will use breakdowns in communication so that spiritual growth will be impossible. What do we do as true believers when we are presented with such challenges?
The bible tells us the antidote to confusion and darkness. It is praise, worship and thanksgiving that prevents our minds and hearts to be corrupted. Seeking God daily through his word will surely equip us to have victory over the enemy.
PRAYER
Lord, show me how to be faithful to you.
REFLECTION
What has thanksgiving and worshipping God done to you?

LIVE IN PEACE & THANKSGIVING Poem Devotional

November 19                                                            The Power of God’s Word
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
– Colossians 3:15 (NLT)
LIVE IN PEACE & THANKSGIVING
A poem and essay by ILMA
Is your life an act of thanksgiving and praise to God?
Do you acknowledge the giver of life and give him applaud?
Do you choose to live in peace and harmony?
Have you given up resentments in order to embrace unity?
Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts
For it keeps you close to Him and you will never be apart
All believers are called to live in peace and gratitude
Give up your sinful nature and let God change your attitude!
The word “peace” in English conjures up a passive picture, one showing an absence of civil disturbance or hostilities, or a personality free from internal and external strife. The biblical concept of peace is larger than that and rests heavily on the Hebrew root slm, which means “to be complete” or “to be sound.” The verb conveys both a dynamic and a static meaning” to be complete or whole” or “to live well.”
The bible tells us that peace comes from Christ and that we should let it rule our hearts. As Christians, we are called to live and embrace peace and always be thankful.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to choose peace always.
REFLECTION
How can you be thankful to God daily?
