For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. -Zephaniah 3:17(NLT)
HE CALMS YOUR FEARS
A poem and essay by ILMA
Who can calm all your fears in an instant?
Run and be close to Christ instead of being distant!
He will live inside you and will wipe all your fears
He will take delight in you and wipe your tears.
The Lord is a mighty Savior and rejoices over you
Receive and enjoy his power to make your mind new
Perfect love casts out fear so always choose love
It is the only way to get closer to the Father up above.

A panic attack is the abrupt onset of intense fear or discomfort that reaches a peak within minutes and includes at least four of the following symptoms: accelerated heart rate, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath or smothering, choking feeling, chest pain, nausea, dizzy or faint, chills or heat sensations, tingling or numbness, fear of going crazy or dying. Panic attacks typically reach their peak level of intensity in 10 minutes or less and then begin to subside. I had panic attacks in five decades without ever being diagnosed. It was debilitating. Only God’s word and his truth freed me from all the fear and these panic attacks.

THE GREATEST RESCUER Poem Devotional

January 24________________________________________
For you have rescued me from my troubles and helped me to triumph over my enemies.
-Psalm 54:7(NLT)
THE GREATEST RESCUER
A poem and essay by ILMA
What troubles do you need to bring to the throne?
Are they concerning a struggle or does it involve someone?
Are there people persecuting you because of Jesus?
Do you run to the cross to ask help and sing praises?
God is our strength, our rescuer and defender
He is faithful to the body of all believers
Don’t lose hope when you are attacked
If you run to Christ, you will have no lack.

To rescue is defined as to save someone from a dangerous or distressing situation. The Hebrew word for rescue is “yasha” which means deliverance, salvation, safety, welfare. The Hebrew meaning covers a bigger act of saving someone. Deliverance is defined as “a rescue from bondage or danger.” Deliverance in the Bible is the acts of God rescuing his people from peril. Have you ever been rescued by someone from a dangerous situation?
I come from a country where there is so much disasters and catastrophe. A rescuer is a novelty in the Philippines because almost everyone experience danger, so we rescue our own selves.
The bible tells us how God is the greatest rescuer for all believers. He delivers us from all kinds of evil, strongholds and sins that keep us in bondage. He frees us from suffering.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for rescuing me from all my sins.
REFLECTION
What has God freed you from lately?

CRY OUT AND RUN TO GOD Poem Devotional

I took my troubles to the Lord; I cried out to him and he answered my prayer.
– Psalm 120:1(NLT)
CRY OUT AND RUN TO GOD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you have troubles and difficulties in life?
Who can make you understand and give you light?
I took my troubles to the Lord and cried out to him
He listened to me and made me see.
What a compassionate God we have
He is always there to give me love
He is waiting for me to run to him
He unconditionally forgives and redeems.
When you seek solace from someone, they may help you or worsen your situation. I used to depend on counselors so much because I wanted to overcome my abuse cycle. It became an addiction to run to them whenever I have panic attacks. Sometimes I feel better after talking to them but most of the time, I still go to the same patterns of seeking comfort from them. There was a trauma therapist who I saw for almost a year. The more I came to him, the more troubles I got into.
I took my troubles to God, cried out to him and he answered my prayer. The spirit told me to seek and study God’s word so I will see what lies I have been listening to.
PRAYER
Lord, keep me faithful to seek your word.

TROUBLES PRODUCE GLORY Poem Devotional

Sept 20th 103

June 11                                                                         The Power of God’s Word
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever.
–2 Corinthians 4:16-17(NLT)
TROUBLES PRODUCE GLORY
A poem and essay by ILMA
Does trouble bring you down?
Do you constantly feel consumed and bound?
When we are beset by tribulations
We need to focus on God’s love and salvation.
Though our bodies are dying
God is constantly renewing
Troubles may seem disheartening
Yet it produces for us a glory that is astounding.
I grew up surrounded by people who constantly complained. It was a common thing to hear criticisms and demands from members of my family. It seems like there is never enough one can do to satisfy the expectations of someone. The worst thing is that these expectations were all unspoken and hidden. Thus, trouble and conflicts thrived greatly in our household. Yet, something inside me told me to never give up. I didn’t realize then that it was God’s spirit who walked me through my life’s troubles.
The bible tells us that we must never give up when we encounter troubles. It is so small in comparison to the glory that is awaiting us when we die for Christ.
PRAYER
Lord, let me see trouble as a stepping stone to glory.
REFLECTION
How can troubles strengthen us?
