FALLING AWAY FROM GOD’S GRACE Poem Devotional

For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace – Galatians 5:4(NLT)
FALLING AWAY FROM GOD’S GRACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you committed your life to Jesus Christ
You will be showered with his grace in life
You need not keep on following rules
Openly receive his mercy, grace and his truth.
You will be falling away from God’s grace right away
When you obsessively follow the law always
You will be denying yourself of all his blessings
Walk in love instead of keeping the law strictly.

Are you a stickler to rules? Do you follow the law just so you can be right with the Lord? I used to be legalistic and followed the commandments so I can feel right with myself and with God. I didn’t know I lived in the old testament by following the ten commandments and abiding by it for the sake of being saved. Romans 13:10 says that love is the fulfillment of the law and in Matthew 22:36-40, we are given the highest commandment to love God first and our neighbors as ourselves. It states that love rules over law. When we do things out of just obeying the law, we lose out on what is more important, which is love. We fall away from God’s grace when we prioritize law over love.

PRAYER
Lord, let me follow your commands out of love and not just out of duty.
REFLECTION
How can we avoid falling out of grace?

GRACE BUILDS YOU UP

And now I entrust you to God and the message of his grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those he has set apart for himself. – Acts 20:32(NLT)
GRACE BUILDS YOU UP
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you go through trials and feel discouraged
Focus on the grace of God so you will be encouraged
He will not allow you to be tested beyond your capacity
His grace is there to build you up in all your suffering and frailties.
When you cannot understand what you are going through
Grace gives you comfort by leading you to His truth
You need not understand why he unconditionally loves you
Just receive grace, thank the Lord and be renewed.

The word “grace” used in the bible like forgiveness, repentance, regeneration, and salvation, mean something as broad as describing the whole of God’s activity toward man or as narrow as describing one segment of that activity. An accurate, common definition describes grace as the unmerited favor of God toward man. It was hard for me to comprehend “grace” before I became a born again Christian. I was raised in the concept of working for my salvation. I wouldn’t be saved if I didn’t do good works. It enslaved me to think that I wasn’t going to be saved because I wasn’t good enough. God’s unconditional love for me is manifested in his grace.

PRAYER
Lord, help me to see the grace I receive from you daily.
REFLECTION
What might block you from receiving God’s grace?

THOSE WHO TWIST GOD’S GRACE Poem Devotional

I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only master and Lord, Jesus Christ. – Jude 4(NLT)
THOSE WHO TWIST GOD’S GRACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Some people twist the truth of God’s marvelous grace
They go to churches to and pretend to worship and praise
They turn the doctrine of “grace” to pursue sin and power
They justify doing bad because they say God’s grace will cover.
God will judge anyone who alters his truth in his word
They will be condemned and be lost in this world
It illustrates their rebellion and denial of God’s authority
It shows their allegiance and loyalty to the enemy.

Timothy 3:16 tells us that all Scriptures is inspired by God. John 17:17 says that the word of God is truth. Revelation 22:18-19 tells us what happens if anyone removes any word from Scriptures. They will be removed from their share in the tree of life in the holy city that are described in the bible. In other words, they will miss their inheritance from God.
What do you think will happen to those who not only remove some words but actually twist them and corrupt other people? They will be condemned for twisting his word and denying the truth.
PRAYER
Lord, give me wisdom to know when someone twists your truth.
REFLECTION
How can one know if the truth is being twisted and what do we do?

This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace. – Colossians 1:6 (NLT)
GOD’S WONDERFUL GRACE
A poem and essay by ILMA
Grace is unmerited favor from God
It reminds us of our heavenly Father’s love
The Good News that Jesus came to free
Is bearing fruit and changing lives daily.
Live freely under this merited favor
It brings peace and much fervor
God’s wonderful grace allows you freedom
It invites you a step closer to his great kingdom.

For many years of captivity from many generational strongholds, I can confirm that God’s wonderful grace has freed me from all of it. The biggest stronghold I have been freed from is legalism. Through the years, the enemy made me believe all sorts of lies that kept me from living a full, peaceful and enjoyable life. I always had to rely on self-effort and performance until I received this grace that has been given to me for the longest time. The devil didn’t want me to receive this truth so he kept on distracting me from enjoying living my life under God’s provision. What an awesome change it was to stop all the effort and just live a life of “God-dependence” instead of independence.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for the unmerited favor you give me daily.
REFLECTION
What favors have you received from the Lord as soon as you committed your life to him?
