ON SUPPRESSING TRUTH Poem Devotional

But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. – Romans 1:18 (NLT)
ON SUPPRESSING TRUTH
A poem and essay by ILMA
God hates those who are wicked
These people knowingly want to do evil
As they do this, they allow darkness in
It generates Satan’s purpose for all to sin.
Truth is suppressed when wickedness prevails
These people will surely receive God’s anger
Don’t participate in any unrighteousness
Instead, guard your heart and stay blessed.

Many people are unaware how truth is suppressed. The bible says that propagating evil and wickedness is one way that we can hinder truth from prevailing. In 2 Corinthians 4:4, we are told that Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. Because they are blind, they do not know the truth, and so, they are bonded to sin. As they continue to generate wickedness, they are suppressing the truth. We are cautioned by the apostle Paul about this. He warns us of God’s anger on those who wilfully do evil to others.
When one suppresses the truth from surfacing, they are going to suffer the consequence and get God’s wrath.________________________________________
PRAYER
Lord, deliver me from all those who suppress the truth.

THE ONE WHO SINS Poem Devotional

October 17
________________________________________
The person who sins is the one who will die. The child will not be punished for the parent’s sins, and the parent will not be punished for the child’s sins. Righteous people will be rewarded for their own righteous behavior and wicked people will be punished for their own wickedness. -Ezekiel 18:20(NLT)
THE ONE WHO SINS
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you deliberately choose a life in sin
You will die spiritually and your life will be grim
No one else will bear your own wrongdoing
You will be rewarded if you choose the right things.
The one who sins forfeits heaven if they continue
If you repent, God will transform and change you
Righteous people will be rewarded for their good choices
Wickedness will always lead you to bad consequences

In the book of Ezekiel, chapter 18 gives us a clear picture of the justice of a righteous God. This verse we are talking about answers the question if a child pays for the sins of his or her parents. It clearly says that the one who sins is the one who receives death. It is not passed on to the children. The parents are not also going to die because of their children’s death. Galatians 6:5 supports this verse as well since it says that we are each responsible for our own conduct. There is a reward to those who repent and turn from wickedness.

THE SOURCE OF ALL EVIL Poem Devotional

For from the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying and slander. – Matthew 15:19(NLT)
THE SOURCE OF ALL EVIL
A poem and essay by ILMA
Do you know the source of all wickedness?
Inside our hearts, we make decisions and choices
It is from it that we sort, analyze and scheme
If we are not careful, we will be tempted to sin.
Doesn’t a desire for coveting start from it?
Lust comes from the yearnings of our own spirits
Surrender your hearts to the Lord so he can change you
Guard it to be free from deceit and live a life that’s pure.

Many people love to pinpoint evil at someone or something that happened outside of themselves. We sometimes get into the blame game and not take responsibility for our own choices. These denials open the door for the enemy to inject all sorts of evil in our minds first, then let it reside in our hearts. Before we know it, we have already committed a sin. The bible says that the source of all evil is not from outside of us, but it is from within us. It is caused by our own hearts. When we desire or long for something we don’t have, it traps us and keep us in bondage to that craving. When we entertain the fulfillment of a want in our lives, we allow evil to dominate our hearts.

PRAYER
Lord, please guard me from thoughts of evil.

How can we take ownership to our thoughts and motives so God can change our heart?

WHAT SEPARATES US FROM GOD
A poem and essay by ILMA
Whenever you choose to do wrong
You won’t have peace for very long
Your evil thoughts and actions
Will lead to bad decisions.
Whenever you focus on your “self”
It will hinder you to making progress
Evil thoughts lead to wicked way
It prevents you from giving God praise.

God always longs for our friendship, loyalty and love. It is hard for him to watch us veering away from him which becomes an obstacle for us to fulfill his plans for our lives. I used to be attracted to people who abuse me. I grew up in an environment where love does not thrive. I was used to being mistreated and minimized. It was something I was comfortable with because I already knew what to expect because it became part of me. I related with people who were evil and you can predict the outcome of my life just from the wrong choices I made. I didn’t realize that when I chose evil ways, I separated myself from God automatically. I became his enemy without even being aware of it. When God changed me after I became born again, I learned to choose the right way even though it wasn’t comfortable for me.

Lord, help me to never entertain evil thoughts and actions.

If you set a trap for others, you will get caught in it yourself. If you roll a boulder down on others, it will crush you instead. -Proverbs 26:27(NLT)
EVIL SCHEMES BOUNCE BACK
A poem and essay by ILMA
When you succumb to the temptation of hurting others
You run the risk of the consequence of losing one another
If you set a trap for others, you will get caught in it yourself
Forget your own little schemes and don’t focus on the “self”.
Whatever you do to your sisters and brothers
It will be given back to you by others
Think only of pure and righteous things
It will bring you strength to overcome sin.

I’d like to quote an article about karma by Fritz Chery. Many people ask if Karma is biblical and the answer is no. Karma is a Hinduism and Buddhism belief that says your actions determine the good and the bad that happens to you in this life and the afterlife. Karma is associated with reincarnation, which basically says what you do today will determine your next life. With Karma you get what you deserve. In Christianity Jesus got what you deserve. Grace is the opposite of Karma. Karma isn’t found in the Bible. Instead, Scriptures talk a lot about reaping and sowing. Reaping is the result of what we’ve sown. Sow evil and you will reap it. Do good and you’ll gain it.
PRAYER
Lord, let me never entertain evil schemes.
REFLECTION
How can the law of sowing and reaping affect a Christian’s life?

CHOOSE THE RIGHT PATH

Those who follow the right path fear the Lord; those who take the wrong path despise him. – Proverbs 14:2(NLT)
CHOOSE THE RIGHT PATH
A poem and essay by ILMA
Are you a believer of Jesus Christ?
Are you following him as he leads you to his path?
Those who do righteous things fear the Lord
They live life so they can bring him laud.
Those who do not heed his commands
They will find it hard to cope with life’s demands
Those who choose to follow Jesus daily
They will find joy and have tranquility.
________________________________________
There were many years of my life spent rebelling and doing things that do not give God glory. I was in bondage to sin and to lawlessness. I could have chosen to follow the right path by revering the Lord and living in his will. Many of us in our youth have done many things we are not proud of. When we are not modelled a life for Jesus, it is difficult to navigate through life with choosing the right path that leads to God. Sometimes our experience with our biological parents influences us to view God as we experienced from them. That is not how God is. He loves us unconditionally and wants always the best for us.
The bible tells us that how we live our lives reveal how we love the Lord. If we do righteous things, we revere him.
PRAYER
Lord, let me never choose to be lawless.
REFLECTION
Why does the bible say that when we choose the bad, we show that we despise God?

GOD SEES WHAT THE WICKED DOES Poem Devotional

burks falls 2014,barrie,erin, stanley hoop 100

April 22                                                                                    The Power of God’s Word

The Righteous One knows what is going on in the homes of the wicked; he will bring disaster on them.         –Proverbs 21:12 (NLT)

A poem by ILMA

Do you often wonder why God allows evil to happen?

Why do people’s hearts continually harden?

How can we help those who are experiencing violence?

Are we bold enough to expose their insolence?

God sees the evil things the wicked does

He watches over those who obey and trusts

He may allow wickedness to take place

God will bring justice and that is what his word says.

Evil lurks in our society. A lot of people have lost faith in God because of the prevalence of wickedness. People question why God would allow such things to happen especially to the weak and vulnerable. I’ve had my share of blaming God for the many sufferings I’ve experienced in life until I studied his word. He revealed to me that after all the pain I went through, he was there to protect me and later on bring justice to my abusers.  He also taught me to forgive so I can be free. The bible tells us that God is a god of justice. We may not be able to comprehend why bad things happen, but God is always watching and promised to bring justice.

PRAYER

Lord, teach me how to trust you.

REFLECTION

Why is faith essential especially in times of crisis?
